Say what you mean and mean what you say because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.: |
|
| Dewsbury when relegated in 2007/8 offered the lowest priced season ticket prices in NL1 for 2008/9 were cheaper at the turnstile and have bounced back this season with an increased following. So who's right?
Watched my first Dons game in 1961 and been one of the faithfull ever since but will probably go to more away games and less at home especially as there are several grounds nearer to me than Keepafloat who will be charging less for senior's .
You pays your money and takes your pick.

| Quote: DRAGONFAN "But the whole point is that the OAP price has been upped by £4 on last years price.
Thats a rise as others have already pointed out of over 66%
If its not ok in your view to raise the Adult price by £1.
Then it's surely can't be fair to raise the OAP price by £4.
The club is rightly so being run on a tight budget--but there will be many OAP supporters
out there also on a tight budget and we can't afford to lose anymore supporters next season.
And there are a good few adult's who have been brought to the game by their parents
who are now OAP's and if one stops coming the others may choose not to come also.'"
Pensioners are in general better off at the moment than most people working.

| Quote: CARL HALL "Hi All
Just to inform you on the season ticket prices when we were in this Division 2008 the prices were as follows.
Adult Season
Senior Citizen
Under 16's were £6 or £40 for season ticket.
We are trying our best to keep it simple there were about 7/8 ticket prices before which is confussing to everyone.
Most people are happy with the OAP season ticket price which covers NRC group games and all league games works out under £7 a game, so solution buy season ticket.
And what I will say is we do care about everyone but we also understand not everyone will be happy with the decision's we have to make.
We appricate all our loyal fan's support.
Carl Hall'"
Under cutting yourselves on the kids price Carl

| Todays pensioners are better off than any previous generation and are better off than future generations will be. The taxes being paid by the workers now are paying todays pensions. I appreciate they have paid their dues over the years but i do not think what the club is asking for a season ticket is over the top considering it as a one off payment which lasts you all of the year.

Don't let facts get in the way of ill-informed opinion DF.
Incidentally, I have just had a scan of some club sites from all the divisions including Superleague..........a lot have not posted their 2010 prices yet....but on the ones that have, there is a clear pattern irrespective of how high or low the cost is....and that pattern is that at the gate the senior price is about two thirds of the adult price.
So irrespective of unemployment and the relative incomes of people......that lot (other clubs) have got it wrong and Donny have got it right then?
Well all I can say is thank goodness throughout the leagues in general COMMON SENSE prevails....and that an historical concession still remains for folk that have put thousands of pounds over the years into rugby league and are being rewarded.

Don't let him sidetrack you into a separate issue.
Unemployment, poor pensioners, rich pensioners on company pensions are to be found everywhere.....Donny is in no way a special case.....although I would propose that we have a fair share of poorish state-only pensioners with top up benefits.
The point is that most other clubs recognise the concession and preserve it.
Donny is swimming against the tide and it is not justified.
And if they persist it won't be forgotten....and I for one will seriously consider not going to home games, instead just some away games..
And it is not that I can't afford it......it's the same principle that stops me buying beer at the Keepmoat when I know I am being ripped off.
Cue someone accusng me of moaning in another attempt at deflection.
Anyway...I will say NO MORE about this!!!!

| The article quoted above states the average weekly wage is now 549.80 !
Not in our house it isn't !
Many people are struggling at the momemt, not just pensioners. However i appreciate what people are saying. Maybe if we weren't paying out for all the free loaders coming into the country we would all be better off but that's going off the subject.
I still think it's not a bad price though when compared with what you pay in SL to see past it Aussies etc.

There are people who only receive OAP who pay income tax and if they receive any other pension they pay tax

| As i said i appreciate people have paid their dues over the years but the club needs to draw money in from somewhere. Without being funny it is not a charity and we need to start as we mean to go on.
Do you really think the price of a season ticket is that bad for Seniors ?

We are talking about matchday prices mainly which are not proportionate to adult prices. I think we will be talking with our feet after 58 years supporting the club

No given an ordinary season with a settled side, but with a good few years of turmoil behind it Doncaster RL is not a club IMO that folk are prepared to gamble on a season ticket, whatever the price. I will not be buying a season ticket and will take it game for game. That is the whole point, why set the matchday senior price at a level that is off putting to the hardned fans who think likewise, never mind the casual fans that may decide to come down if the team performs accordingly. The club is not a charity I grant you, but neither are the bloody long suffering folk who have been there through thick and thin. The club needs to be a trusted organization and overpricing its OAP fans ain't doing much for that trust.
