Agree with that Baz, the winner today was deffo rugby league in Doncaster.

Todays score flattered the Dons massively. 20-0 at half time wasn't deserved by a long chalk when you think the amateurs have trained together just THREE times and still dont know each others names let alone how to play alongside each other. A little more time together to work on a few moves near the line and it could have been VERY embarrassing!
38-6 against a team cobbled together from the 3 local clubs suggests a long hard season ahead.

Yes ... full marks to the Select side.
When you consider that this was a cobbled together amalgam of three amateur sides, you'd have to say they were great.
They had the Dons stuck defending their try line for much of the first half, and even in the the second half when you'd think the Select side would tire and cave in, they didn't, instead they scored a great try and pressurised the Dons some more.

OK, when we got near their try line, scoring a try was not too difficult, BUT they showed up big deficiencies in the Dons side that does not bode well for the future.
Not least our total lack of a kicking game in relation to territory.
That wasn't a top 4 side out there today. Very disappointing.
Although I have got to give credit to the amateur lads ... well done!

The plus sides from a Dons point of view was the length of time we managed to defend the line with so many sets started within our twenty metres, the downside was the amount of time we allowed those starts to happen. A clinical team (ie Fev) would have scored from a lot of them leaving us in a pickle before we'd got going. And as S-O says, our kicking game was very weak. We did however throw some nice passing moves together from deep (although most of them ended in nothing with the majority of tries coming from short range)

From an individuals point of view I liked the look of Adam Scott, seemed quick on his feet for a big lad.

Yes so did I.
It was a good offload out of a tackle by him that gave Kesik a stroll over try.
I thought Kesik himself played well.
Butterfield was good.

I thought we lacked invention from the play-makers and we need Dobek back ASAP.

Adam Scott has impressed me in both games so far.

I also commented during the game yesterday that having to defend for the number of sets we did during periods yesterday, we would inevitably get points scored against us by Championship One teams.

We did, but we also had Scott Spaven missing yesterday.

The crowd was 408 incidentally for those that did not attend and are interested ... which I thought was not too bad.

Hopefully we've used up our quota of Ronnie Laughton's too
