| Sheffield last Friday to see Melissa Auf Der Maur (at the Corporation) with obviously some real ale before and after ...
Exmoor Dark 4.2% in the Benjamin Huntsman
Brewdog Edge (keep encountering that one) 3.2% ... Sheffield Waterworks
Lord Parrots Ale 4.0% ... Frog & Parrot
Empire Moonraker Mild 3.8% ... Devonshire Cat
Thornbridge Lord Marples 4.0% (top notch as always) ... Sheffield Tap
Great concert and not a bad pint in the list above ... although I did make the mistake of drinking at the venue ... not quite as good, but not exactly a surprise.

| Sampled Brewdog Paradox 10.0% in Cask Corner yesterday. Apparently it's matured in a whisky cask.
They're waiting for a delivery of the same brewery's Tactical Nuclear Penguin 32.0%.

| The Salutation had a Thorne brew which I hadn't sampled before available last night ... Peel Hill 4.0%, its a dark amber beer with a fruity finish ... very nice. Also had a pint of Milestones Dark Galleon 5.4% which is described as a strong bitter but leans to the dark side.
The Yorkshire Grey once again proved disappointing ... no YG Best, no Bombadier although both pumps were labelled-up. Hobsons choice, Thorne Pale Ale, not a drink I would have picked had there been a choice.
Cask Corner, as always, had plenty of choice ... tried Leatherbritches Scary Mary, Derby Brewing Co Peregrin Porter, Toad Tadpole and one whose correct name eludes me ... I think it was called Pig On The Hill.

| Beaujolais Nouveau, a nice ruby red colour with a finish like vinegar. Yes, I know it well
Apparently Brewdog ship quite regularly down here now. They had several on at the Arkwright Arms in Chesterfield a week or two back. Brought it all down on a pallet from Fraserburgh apparently. Punk IPA's my favourite. Must be a vintage
Had a very nice pint of March Haigh at the Riverhead Brewery Tap at Marsden. So good that we're planning on a weekend in that neck of the woods soon, which just might take in the Sair Inn at Linthwaite

often overhyped I must admit tho' this year it is less vinegary and quite tasty due to the perfect wine growing conditions this year - goes down particularly well with the fish & chips I find...

I suspect we'll be seeing all of you coming over to Keighley when you play us next season given the amount of cracking ales produced round here.
Cracking thead by the way.

| Took refuge from the snow in Weatherspoons in Sheffield and had a couple of Brains Festive Cheers (4%). Couldn't tell the difference from normal Brains to be honest!
also had a taste of Plum Pudding Fruit Beer but it wasn't my thing

Not trying to be clever, but what do you mean when you say normal Brains... Brains SA? Because, I have to say that Rev James is an absolute favourite of mine.

Not trying to be clever, but when you say Wetherspoons in Sheffield, which one do you mean? There are so many.
The Bankers Draft is a favourite of mine ... oh and the Swim Inn ... oh and the Yorkshire Water Company one ... oh and that one on Cambridge Street called just Wetherspoon .......
I think Brain's SA stands for Brain's Sh/t Ale.

I think that the Swim Inn is the only one I've not so far been in.
The one on Cambridge Street is The Benjamin Huntsmen (was in there a couple of Fridays ago) ... not sure if it's recently been given that name?
A little further afield I am a fan of The Rawson Spring at Hillsborough ... and like the Bankers Draft, the Tram stops right outside

| Yes I meant SA (I think), agree on the Rev James. First sampled that in a little pub near Aberyswyth (sp?)
The Weatherspoons next to The Yates across from City Hall...I didn't stop to read the name

That's The Benjamin Huntsman.
