We were beaten, comprehensively in every department. Merrill was his normal inept; but that doesn't take away from the fact they wanted it more than we did.
Being beaten by a better team, having given a good account of yourself, deserves recognition, today's performance was not that.
Fully understand if people felt short changed and left with five minutes to go.

You feel short changed from this season, of which today was the last game? Wow!

And you've as good as got a bye in to week 3 of the play offs given our recent record - no play off win since 2004

I talked to some people who came for the first time this season ... all they saw was garbage ... that's what they said.
They weren't bothered about the overall season, they expected MORE ....TODAY!
We will lose both play- off games based on that brittle display.
Feel free to gloat if I am wrong.

If the last two weeks were the other way round we'd be all full of optimism; it happened to be they weren't. I don't base my judgements of the season on how the calender happened to fall

Even if we get beat by 50 points in both the next two games; I wouldn't let that dampen my opinion of what we have achieved, above and beyond all expectation, this season

Sorry Jemmo, I've only missed 1 game all season (and that was through work), so I think that gives me better right to comment. I was tempted to walk out too.

Batley were the better side today. We were shocking. Beating Halifax was like beating Leigh - the worst thing that could have happened to us.

Never have we backed up a good win, or killed a team off completely. Harsh but true.

We should have been going out today on a high. But how can we now after dropping from 3rd to 4th and being comprehensively hammered by a side that was all set to be relegated this morning.

It's put a really sour note on the season end.

I do take your point though ... yes we have done well.
But that was almost like we had a bet on.

They wanted it more and got what they deserved. We lacked creativity throughout the game, but a lot of that was down to Batleys enthusiasm. As for the season as a whole, done brilliantly to finish fourth, could have, and maybe should have in the end, been even better, but not to be. Hopefully bad performance out of the way.

This is exactly what I wanted to put. I was thinking of putting something in the 2015 squad thread - not sure who we need to recruit to do it but we need greater consistency. Also if I heard right on my way out of the stadium Fev lost so we could have come second.

I'm not in denial; I am not saying today wasn't awful; it was. I am saying to let today define the season and the last chance for many to show appreciation for that season; in my opinion, is wrong.

And you're not only as good as your last performance, or we'd be relegated. You're as good as a culmination of 26 league fixtures, in which we have been shown to be the fourth best side.
