I predicted the Dons would win 18-12. I was right...
I'd not factored in that the ref was going to give them 10 points.
Overall, I was encouraged by the performance. We made some mistakes but for this stage of the season, having only played two games as a group, we look like a good team in the making. Sheffield certainly didn't look better than us. In fact, both sides looked quite closely matched. The Dons will improve, maybe Sheffield will too.
Suaia Matagi was a stand-out. I reckon he must have played 70 minutes. I think he went off a few minutes before half-time and came back on shortly after. He is some player. I'm so glad he's on our side.
Tyla Hepi was extremely good when he came on. If he was rusty today, I'd like to see him when he's fully up-to-speed. He loves an off-load and will cause defences plenty of headaches.
Lovodua's try aided by Alex Sutcliffe was great to watch - don't miss that on the highlights. Lovodua oozes class. So glad we signed him.
Brett Ferres worked really hard and looked solid.
Sam Smeaton was as tough as ever.
Our weakness in past seasons is that out pack hasn't been good enough. That isn't the case this time around.
I'll give a quick mention to Sheffield's Joel Farrell and in particular Tendai Gwaze as I thought they were impressive.
I've seen that Widnes lost at Swinton today. That's handy.
Onto car park matters: I flashed my Car Park Pass at Gate Two and was waved through - no problems. A friend of mine - who hasn't got a pass - arrived at Gate Two and was given a QR code to scan. He tried to make a payment but hit problems. I thought only Car Park One and Three were available for payments.
Anyway, my freind went back to the guys on the gate who said no fines would be imposed today. My friend isn't quite sure how he overcomes the problem for the next home match.
When I arrived, I thought Car Park Two must be reserved for pass holders but that obviously isn't the case as my friend was allowed in. I presume that when an online payment is made, the parking company ask for a number plate so they can tell who has paid and who hasn't. Where does this leave me? The club don't know my number plate. I never gave it when I applied for the pass. Will the cameras think I've not paid or maybe the staff on the gate made a note of my number plate to exempt me from a fine? I don't know. I'll ask the guys on the gate at the next match if they are making a record.
Shame we've got to wait a long while for the next home game...
Isn't it so much better being in the Championship compared to League One? We've got an exciting season to look forward to!
