Quote Wanderer="Wanderer"It's certainly up there.
Such a pity after a decent performance from a ref last week.
I can see why people are becoming disillusioned with watching the sport at our level with performances from officials like that one yesterday!'"
They guess things, that's what's wrong with refs.
They give penalties for not playing the ball correctly against players who are clearly being pushed and pulled.
And when a ball shoots out of a tackle at a zillion miles an hour, that's automatically because they have dropped it. Is the acceleration due to gravity that high...that it would propel a ball to that speed in the space of 2 or 3 feet??
They don't look down the line for offside, because they daren't.
Etc etc
I used to leave games when I thought we had given up.....I often leave games now because I feel the ref has interfered at a critical time in a good, even match and tipped the balance and spoiled the game. I usually only do this when it goes against the Dons though
But I have watched games on telly and thought exactly the same....that the ref has stuck his oar in with a couple of crap decisions and robbed one of the sides of the game. So what was going to be a thrilling finish is all over with 20 minutes left.
So players get frustrated and the situation gets worse for them.
