| Had a couple of pints of the delightful Nethergate Sweeney Todd Bitter 4.0% in Spouters Corner (Wood Green) pre-Rugby yesterday.
On the negative side, the Skolars Bar just down the road from the stadium looks like it's on the verge of closure. One draught lager and a few bottles ... apparently it only opens three days a week.
Managed to avoid the Magners at the match this year only to end up with one afterwards in the Skolars Bar.

| Visited the quite wonderful Wheatsheaf at Burn for the first time today. Certainly won't be the last.
Had a pint of the splendidly-named Brown Cow Brewery's Mrs Simpson's Thriller in Vanilla Porter, the vanilla mitigating the bitterness in the aftertaste, very moreish and the thirst-quenching Ramsbury Sunsplash. On such a warm day, they'd both gone in ten minutes.

| The Gatehouse had available Arundel Footslogger 4.4% (a pale ale) last night. Rather ironic that we returned last Saturday from the Sussex Coast and even visited Arundel during the week we were there and didn't see any of this breweries products.
The Old Angel was a wasted visit with plenty of 'Available Soon' notices but only Abbot and Ruddles actually available. Very disappointing.
The Yorkshire Grey Best Bitter is a fine drink. If I've got one minor criticism, the temperature wasn't quite right last night, tasting as if the cooling system wasn't fully working.
Abbeydale Brimstone 3.9% in the Salutation provided quite a surprise. A dark brown bitter but with a kick of grapefruit that you might expect from a golden ale.

| Nearly forgot ....
The Salutation will have Thornebridge Brewery Wild Swan on from today (won't last too long I guess). A White Gold Pale Ale which I am sure will appeal to one or two who venture on to this thread.

Not yet, but I note that CAMRA are reporting that card-carrying members get a 25% discount on the 12 cask ales.

| The Sal had both Black Sheep Ale and Midnight Bell available last night.
Ventured down to the aforementioned Cask Corner afterwards ... a very pleasant couple of hours. Sampled Mature Toad (Toad Brewery) 4.5%, Worcester Sorcerer (Sadlers) 4.3% & Great Heck Dave 3.8% ... all very enjoyable.
Also sampled Timmermans Lambic Strawberry Beer (Belgian).

| Enjoyed a few scoops in Sheffield yesterday ...
Fox Brewery Best Bitter 4.2% in the Hillsborough Hotel was very nice.
Black Country Special Bitter 5.1% and Thorne Best Bitter were both sampled in the Bankers Draft whilst watching the Leeds / Saints game. I thought the former was a little disappointing considering its strength.
A couple of familiar brews in the Dove and Rainbow in the shape of Acorn Old Moor Porter and Hobgoblin.
