| I was really pleased with yesterdays performance , Sheffield looked to have a little more speed around the ruck area, but until the 60 minute make we more than held our own.
The interchanging of two or three players at a time effected the cohesion of the team which is only natural , the trialists didn't look out of place ,but our left edge defence was exploited towards the end of the game.
Whoever at the end of the day it was a good run out for first one of the year.
I was impressed with Rickett, Carter and Peltier , they look like they could be the punch we have lacked in previous seasons.
Our kicking game needs to be sharper as numerous times our kicks were rushed due to the Seagulls line speed.
The positives to come from Sunday far outweigh the negatives a few tweeks here and there and Wakefield will have their hands full Friday.
I feel Stand-offish's comments are unfair given its the first game of the season playing what was not far from a full strength Eagles squad.
I still feel we are one prop light, but we look to have assembled a squad capable of challenging for the top spot.

| Deleted the playground squabbles. A reminder this is a forum about discussing the Dons, not about discussing the way people talk

| I left happy with what I saw on the whole, the new additions to the squad all added something, Peltier particularly looked a handful, especially on his first stint. Chase looked very good, his read for the second try before the ball had even been played was one of those thing I couldn't imagine anyone else on that field doing. Considering the key players not available and the chopping and changing that went on i think the scoreline flattered them, but they're an established team in the division above so all in all an enjoyable watch.

| I tend to agree with the comments that the positives outweighed the negatives. A number of very decent performances and the new additions all look like they will give us that little bit of something extra.
I also concur with those statements about another decent prop / middle being needed. We have the backs to run riot in League One as long as we win the forward battle which was sometimes our Achilles heel last season.

| Does anyone else think Dixon or Mclaughlin could play middle , think Horne G will be the extra middle to play at 13.
Do not know how the coach will fit Beharrell , Chase & Boas in the starting 13 if Logan is to start at 1 & Cross is back soon.
Any update on the injuries apart from Jordie.
We have the makings of a good squad .

| When Beryl is fit he will start at 7, I am sure of it. Boas will float around and probably come off the bench. I really would rather he wasn't at fullback

| Agree , my point was that in the modern game a coach will pick 2 middles , a back row forward & a hooker off the bench.
Was impressed with Carter yesterday & if Cross is fit soon , the coach has a dilemma.

| A side can only accommodate 2 small players on the pitch at one time in my humble opinion.
Without some compensating beef, they will be targetted.
Dons sides of recent years have not been big enough per player.

| What about Cross at 13. Carter starting and Boas on the bench? Some nice options there.

| One thing I thought yesterday is that Cross is going to love playing alongside Peltier. His runs are made for him being on his shoulder

| Agreed. Cross is a support player not an out and out dummy half. 13 seems a good fit for me.

| Coaches tend to go for the Hedges or G Horne type.
Also thought the dummy half is supposed to back up the middles.
