O/t sounds like Hull will be running a reserve ream in 2019 , hope that means the end of dual-reg .'"
I've always thought that Super League teams should have a reserve team but after giving it a lot of thought I'm not so sure it's a good idea.
Where would Hull get their reserve team players from? Would they sign four or five of our better players to play for their reserves? Would the community clubs suffer because their players would be 'raided'?
Would the Super League teams want more 'central funding' to run their second teams? If so, where would they get the cash from? They would reduce the central funding for Championship and Championship One clubs to facilitate this.
Fundamentally, there aren't enough players playing the game to have a reserve grade league without it impacting on the Championship, Championship One, and community clubs.
In principle, a reserve grade seems like a good idea; in practice I can see issues arising that would probably impact negatively on the Dons.
With regard to DR/Loans, I think that if Super League teams want to use Championship and Championship One clubs to help develop their players they should be done on season long loan deals with NO recalls allowed during the season.
Back on thread, if Abdull and Griffin are out, it looks like we'll get no one from Hull this weekend.
