As it stands, Wilkinson and Wilson are the only 2 of those 12 not to play for the club this season in the league. Wilkinson has had an operation, and I believe Wilson picked up a knock in preseason.

I would like to see Walton have a run out, thought he played well in the pre-season.

Few bits and pieces.

Doncaster and Leigh have met 48 times altogether, 2 in the John Player Trophy, 4 in the Challenge Cup, 41 times in the league, and 1 time in Playoffs. In that time, Doncaster have won 7 matches, with Leigh winning all the others.

The first meeting between the two teams took place on 12/2/1955, with Leigh winning 19-6 in the first round of the Challenge Cup. It wasn't until the 7th fixture between the two that the Dons won, with a 14-7 victory at Leigh on 21/9/1968. The double was completed when the Dons ran out 13-4 winners in the return fixture at Tattersfield on 8th March 1969, the 45th anniversary of which is this coming Sunday.

Since that time, the Dons have only won 5 fixtures against Leigh, with memorable occasions such as Johnny Woodcocks last minute winner in 2001, and last seasons victory being amongst the highlights for the Dons.

The biggest winning margins in the fixtures are 11 points for Doncaster (29-18 victory, 25/06/2000, Wayne Parker with 4 DG and Steve Booth with 1 DG) and 72 points for Leigh (3-75, 28/03/1976)

If the squad announced is correct then looks like holt and kittrick at half backs both promising young players but against a very strong leigh side I fear the worse, saying that if Wilko isn't fit I wouldn't want to risk him and miss next week when we have a more realistic chance, some of the other absentees are strange unless injures, Lee as been our most consistent player, and Liam Welham impressed in pre season, one of very few.

Wilko was targeting this match, but I think its come a week too early for him, however, Tom Holt is more than capable in the half backs, and its been a while since a Donny lad played half back for the Dons (no prizes for a correct guess)..

Does anyone remember the rugby union trialist who had played for London Welsh & he came on as a sub for the Dons in the game at Leigh March 28th 1976 the Dons were beaten 75pts to 3pts there are lots of funny stories relating to this players one an only appearance for the Dons.

I eventually found the Leigh preview at the Dons website. I regularly check out the news section but hadn't realised there was a preview link at the top of the page. Surely the team selection (or preview) deserves a mention in the news section too?
