Statement re Dons Match
Shane Chalmers, General Manager of the Keepmoat Stadium said: “The Dons challenge cup game against Queens ARLFC was called off due to crowd trouble (March 7 2009).
“Rugby prides itself as being a family sport and such instances are very rare.
“The CCTV footage was immediately made available to the Police who took this away for evidence gathering on those involved in the incident. A joint meeting has been called to discuss the incident and we will work with the Dons and Police to ban fans involved and in this type of incident from future matches.
“The stadium was properly staffed and took action by the book including contacting the police and as such we are pleased with the way our staff handled the situation.
Dave Marshall, CEO of the Doncaster Dons said: “We are working in partnership with the SMC and working closely with the police to investigate this incident. The SMC did everything possible to prevent this incident and were in contact with the police at all times. |

I believe the incident being referred to happened in a Doncaster v Runcorn fixture at Tattersfield (but time does play tricks). IIRC it was really more a slap than an attack (not that it makes it any less wrong). |

there's alot of rubbish going around in this thread isn't there.
If queens do get thrown out of the competition like a lot of you are saying the surely doncaster should be too. the queens fans wasn't fighting themselves.

Are you talking from the point of view of actually witnessing the incidents? If you are, you must know that even before the fighting broke out, the behaviour of those from Queens was likely to lead to something like this. If you are not, how do you arrive at your conclusion?
Queens should be thrown out but even if the RFL don't take a stance that strong the next option would be to allow the result to stand (more than 60 minutes having been played).
If you really think this situation wasn't created by followers of Queens ARLFC, then either you weren't at the game or you are burying your head in the sand. |

It was not fighting ! MORONS from Leeds attacked men (not one of them under 40 I may add) in front of them, this was an affray and should be treated as one.
who in their right mind would start a fight with odds of 30 to 1, "get real" |

I heard a story once about a little bit of a scuffle at Tattersfield, Parky was on the pitch but still managed to sort out the trouble in the crowd and carry on playing. Don't know how true it is, but what happened to those days???
