| Seems to be a recurring theme people saying they are not going anymore, it's a great shame it's come this, the club needs all the support it can get. But everyone has the right to make up their own mind, it's up to the club to, hopefully, entice people back.

| Quote Moonlight="Moonlight"I came into following the Dons with my Father -in Law in 1978, he was always a ardent fan of League, I was a committed Rovers fan, my goodness it was desperate stuff back then. Tattersfield and all its charm of stinky loo's and a bog like pitch
and yet it was riveting. Would we, could we win a game. I loved it, I loved the fact that no bugger gave us a chance and yet there was always the hope that despite that fact we may just win a game. It turned through the appointment of John Sheridan, not a first but bit by bit we turned a corner. Parky, David Noble, Neil Turner, Gibbo, Roachy and on it went.We beat Workington 46-6 and they sacked their Coach. Hey up I thought we may have a team as Kev Jones ploughed through the mud and went in under the sticks.
I've enjoyed it I never thought of giving it up but for both myself and Glyn this season has been well, a season that sticks in the craw. Something is amiss, we have tried to regain that missing spark that drove us on, but its gone. I have missed more games this year than in the past 37, its not good.
Will take something a little bit more like the old Dons spirit to reinvigorate the feeling for next year. Fingers bloody crossed ( and no sharp objects)
'"
Went across to rugby when the football was good as well. the same as me.
The likes of D.Peacock, Stan Brookes, Steve Uzelac,Kitchen & O'Callaghan to name a few, oh and windy Ian Miller, a very good side then.

The only way the Dons are worth watching is when I get plastered.
See what I did there?

It is (recurring theme), I've had a few people say to me they definitely won't be there next season and one or two have said it will depend on the calibre of the players at the Club at the start of next season.

| I think the dream is over ....
We were moving in the right direction with Paul Cooke. He was a great player and great organiser, and when we lost his interest and commitment and then didn't think big for his replacement we were shafted and the game was up.
Why shouldn't Donny be a superleague club, why should a place like Wigan or Castleford have a Superleague club.
I can see big places like Leeds, Bradford, Hull etc having a top club, but how big is St Hellens?
So although unlikely, a place the size of Donny could support it.
But there is no way we are getting there now ...it's rewind to ten years ago.
The big difference being that we are not in administration anymore.
That is a positive at least.
Can see only mediocrity for the foreseeable future.

S/O makes some really good points. A town the size of Doncaster ought to be able to support a Super League team but for various reasons we've never been able to capture the hearts and minds of the Doncaster people. This is something the club needs to investigate and get to the bottom of. I doubt this is the top of their list of priorities at the moment but it does need looking into.
The good news, compared to days gone by, is that we're not fearing the club will close on the back of what has happened this season.
Everything looked to be progressing in the right direction on the field with PC doing a really good job for us up to the end of last season. Now we feel as though we're back in the dark ages again. It's difficult for any of us to feel upbeat and optimistic about next season as things stand at the moment.
I partially share S/Os view that appointing Gary Thornton was a sign of the club not thinking big. Whether they're thinking big will be more clearly established by the calibre of players we bring in for next season. If an ex-Super League coach had been signed up, it [u[iwould[/i[/u have signalled a positive intent (which I think S/O was hoping for, and so was I, to be honest). An ex-Super League coach wouldn't have come had he not been guaranteed a substantial budget. I suppose our worry is that Gary Thornton may not be given the same budget that a top flight coach would have demanded.
Consequently, we're probably all worried that things could be attempted to be done on the cheap again.
