Yes, a good little fight back there......well done the lads.
It could so easily have turned into a rout. Given the difference in class, given the injuries, given the distance travelled etc etc....it's understandable that we got well beat.
I am dead against this competition though.....it kills interest, particularly in our sort of position.... and come the real start of the season the crowds will be low as a result.

I wouldnt scrap it, just make it straight knockout, maybe best over 2 legs even to the final.

I think we only got into there half 2 or 3 times in the first half.Second half the lads did very well and never stopped battling.Grant Edwards superb today as well.Hope Dannys hand gets better soon! Could have had more points as well, when the ref wouldnt allow us the advantage a couple of times in the game , one of them right on the final siren.

Also the Haven fans just walked off when the siren went! None of them clapped their team off. Very strange.

Well done to the 13 fans who made the trip today as well!!

So we could have lost because we took an unlucky number of fans=13?
One of them should have been shot.....just in case.

My two penneth on the game:

In the first half, we looked like we were expecting to get beat (playing against a much bigger side from the divisions above will do that) and probsbly give them a bit too much respect. They pretty much scored on their first set, and there was no looking back. Grant Edwards (who ran the show for us) tried a lot of stuff but a few others weren't quite on the same page.

After a bit of a half time rollocking, they came out a lot better drilled in defence and were moving up into the tackle (where before they'd been waiting for Haven to get to them). This then gave us better field position by the time we got the ball and we were able to start putting some moves together. Resulting in a couple of nice tries.

Overall, I think we need to keep our fingers crossed for a long dry summer, as we are a team with a lot of pace off the mark, and a lot of side steps. But we can't do that on mud like yesterday (rarely a problem at the Keepmoat). They also need to start the game confidentally, hopefully the the second hald will show them they can compete

One thing I forgot to mention, twice the ref didn't play advantage when he should have following Whitehaven knock ons. One we would have arguably scored, the other were practicaly over the line and would have definately scored.

Not that it would have made a difference in the greater scheme of things, but would have made the final score look a lot better

I think it was on the cards after their defeat away at keighley and then in midweek Batley going up there and winning wont have done you any favours either
