Rugby League
DONCASTER Rugby League Club supporters will get their first opportunity to quiz the new regime in charge at a fans' forum at The Drum in Bentley tonight (6.30pm).
Joint owners Carl Hall and Steve Scholes and new chairman John Scarrow will all be in attendance, as will Ray Green.
"It will be an informal meeting and the idea is just to let the fans know what we doing and what our plans are following our takeover of the club," said Hall.
"The fans always say that they are never informed about anything so this is their chance to come along and listen to what we have to say and also ask any of us questions.
"One of the aims is to see how we can work together in future for the good of the club."
Several weeks after the successful takeover of the club by a business consortium put together by Hall, the New Zealander told The Star: "It's going along nicely. Hopefully we will start hitting things a little bit harder next month.
"I'm currently in negotiations with three or four companies regarding kit for next season.
"The preference is to try and get a supplier who makes the shirt in this country so that we don't let people down when it comes to replica shirts, as happened last season."
Hall said that the club had not yet decided on a design, but that they were looking for a more traditional rugby shirt.

Looking at the pre-season games wouldn't it have been better to have played some at home to gain finance, if the Keepmoat is booked take the games to Thornensians and anyother enclosed ground.

Moorends are looking at it
Quite agree another home game would be better at Thorne/ Brodsworth/ Athletics Track at Keepmoat or elsewhere it could have possibly served to promote the club in community if they played an amateur club if at all possible.
Possibly greater attendance could have been achieved if the forum was put on at a later time to allow people to get home from work.

Playing at Thorne would be a good option.

Did I ever tell you Jim Welbourn saved my dads life down the pit? He doesn't like to talk about it.: |
|
| That's the first time in years I've seen something that resembles a workeable plan. Attendance would be poor because the distribution of information routes were broken last season and I know it's something Carl is working on alongside everything else.
The Community foundation is key, and I would say from experience those attendance targets are achievable and beatable if the charity works to its potential and I'm convinced it will now.
The Supporters trust could also go a long way to beating target figures if they gave the right style of support.
Well done and Keep building bridges Carl......

Carl was asked about playing a friendly against a local amateur club but he thought it might not be wise to pit the young lads against this type of opposition for the time being.
