| Watched the excuse for football in the Sal again and started with a pint of Batemans England Expects 4.0% ... at least the beer delivered even if the players didn't. Pint of Hobgoblin followed by a pint of Harviestoun Schiehallion 4.8% a lager beer which is not one I could drink all night but as a one-off was very drinkable.
Popped in the Yorkshire Grey for a pint of Best ... pity about the plastic 'glass'.

| Manchester today to visit a few pubs missed last time ...
Paramount (Oxford Street) JDW's ... Pint of J D World 3.7% brewed by Coach House Brewing Company ... reasonable if unspectacular bitter.
Lass O'Gowrie (Charles Street)... Pint of Hardy & Hansons Kimberley Ale 3.9% ... warm and cloudy (didn't finish it) ... the other drink purchased at the same time was also warm ... Apparently this pub has won awards, I have no idea why! [size One to avoid at all costs.[/size
Bulls Head (London Road) ... Pint of Wychwood Wizards Staff 4.0% ... Palatable seasonal hoppy bitter.
Ape & Apple (John Dalton Street) ... Pint of Holts Bitter 4.0% ... Another perfectly acceptable if unspectacular drink.
Dutton Hotel (Park Street) ... Pint of Hydes Original 3.8% ... And again acceptable / unspectacular (must be getting very choosy).
Old Wellington Inn (Cathedral Gates) ... Pint of Thwaites Lancaster Bomber 4.4% ... best pub of the day in a pleasant setting near the Cathedral and 'Eye' and best drink of the day. Finished on a winning note.

| Yes it's still me, despite the minor amendment.
Two brewpubs visited recently were the Nook at Holmfirth with its gorgeous Cherry Stout and Berry Blond and the Half Moon Inn at Willingham by Stow, home of Grafters Brewery, with the very drinkable Wobble Gob and Moonlight.
I really must go back to the Church Inn at Uppermill, Saddleworth. Proper chips and Shaft Bender at £1.50 a pint! What more could a ( Yorkshire ) man want?
The other Gary

Don't have access to the e-mail address I opened the account on, so have had to re-register.
Didn't think I'd be allowed to log on as "seuseuwho?". Thought it would look a little suspect.
Oi, S-O. How did you know?

As far as I understand you can log on anywhere as long as you have your Username and Password ... Am I missing something?

You lucky bugger....Waggle Dance is the honey beer is it not....bees do the waggle dance. Very nice brew.
And Jaipur is my personal favourite beer of all time. Did you like it??? I can't see you liking that....unless you've seen the light...nothing malty there.
Black Sheep a top brew
I am going to the Sal tomorrow then to see if they have any Jaipur left....I bet they don't.

Waggle Dance is the honey beer as you rightly state. I've had the Jaipur before and whilst I prefer the Lord Marples and the Ashford from that camp the positive with Thornbridge is that the vast majority of their beers are brewed to a decent strength (no wishy-washy stuff here).
To be honest, Waggle Dance, Jaipur and the Beartown Peach Melbear are not ales that I could drink all night but I don't mind the odd one. Having had three (out of four if you count the Black Sheep) I was ready for something a touch more to my taste.
It would have been Yorkshire Grey Best if we had been able to get through the Yorkshire Grey doors but as we couldn't, we settled for the Old Angel and as you would know I wasn't disappointed to see the Midnight Bell on offer.
