There is a game to be held at Wheatley Hills rugby union ground (behind Furniture Factors) in aid of China's (Dean Colton) testimonial.

Some seating is available in the small stand.

A new shirt will be played in to mark the game which i have been told will be sold/auctioned off at the end of the game

It would be really good to see a decent turnout for this and other Testimonial events in respect of a very popular player with a number of seasons at the Club.

I'll be there cos he's a good lad is Dean and our kid is likely to be playing, but weren't testimonials originally for players who had spent 10 years at a club and were nearing retirement so it helped them set up a business?
So China doesn't qualify for one on any count.
But I'll be there anyway.

its a testimonial from the rfl for services to rugby league,this is deans 12th year in the pro game 11 with doncaster and 1 with featherstone

its a 3 month period thats been granted so hes got a small window to raise as much as he can

rob borrow had a testimonal 2 years ago and hes not retired so i think dean deserves this for his services to the game its alot harder for semi pros to commit time to the game with work and family commitments than it is for the full time players getting full time money so id say hes more deserving of the testimonial than most

Please note that the testimonial game for Dean Colton has yet to be sanctioned by the RFL. The club have formally requested the game to be sanctioned and will update the situation accordingley.

There will be a testimonial game for Scottish international Dean 'China' Colton on Sunday 29th January at Wheatley Hills RUFC. The game will kick-off at 2:00pm - not 3:00pm as previously advertised.

The Dons will play against a Doncaster area select team and there is a trial game on Tuesday (10th January) at Thornesians RUFC at 7:00pm.

The trial squad for the Doncaster area select side is as follows:

Props: From last year's squad Gavin Millward (Toll Bar), Kevin Lake, Wayne Rafferty (Both Moorends) and Mick Rodgerson (Bentley) all get selected again. The new additions are Jim Hamilton (Toll Bar), Shaun Carver (Moorends) and Chris Hemmings (Bentley). The most noticeable absentee is Moorends' Prop Gareth Everton who is unavailable after a great performance in last year's select fixture due to a broken arm.

Hookers: Retained from last year are Scott Smith (Bentley) and Tom Brandham (Toll Bar) with Moorends skipper Dean Armstrong being brought into the squad.

Back Row: First time selections for Lyndon Stayley (Bentley), Ian Evans and Chris Allen (both Moorends). Whilst Shaun Richards (Bentley), Alex Palmer and Danny Hornsby (Both Moorends) get selected again.

Half backs: Moorends supply all the half backs in Mark Roach, Ryan Rafferty and new addition Shaun Roberts.

Centres: From last year's squad only Paul Purnell (Bentley) survives with three new additions added in the form of Steve Allen and Wayne Green (both Moorends) and Gary Smith (Bentley).

Back 3: Aaron Rodwell, Dave Ford and Gareth Carey (Toll Bar) make the squad along with Brendan Neal (Moorends) and Craig Whincop (Bentley).

Watched the trial game tonight , one or two big forwards impressed plus Chris Allen Moorends no6 had a good game.

Unfortunate ankle injury for one of the forwards .

Bentleys Mickey Rogerson, his ankle is broken, out for at least two months.

Commiserations and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Chris Allen IMO is a far better 13 than 6.

Havent seen that much of him lately , so I will bow to your greater local knowledge .
