| Just read in the Dons Match Info thread that there will be no cash turnstiles this weekend
Does anyone know when tickets can be bought from? (or do they have to be bought on the day)

Does the article mean--
No cash Turnstiles--as in you can't get through turnstiles with cash.
Or
There are turnstile now that will allow access via card payments..

I took it mean the first one...but hadn't considered it could mean the second ... good point

| Quote: club "his season the club is trialing no cash turnstiles at their home games. The decision made by the Dons management is aimed at taking pressure off the turnstile operators and smoother running of match day operations. '"
If it does mean there will be no turnstiles that take cash--and they are doing this to take pressure off the turnstile operators.
Then they sure as hell will be putting extra pressure on the actual staff who sell the tickets----as most fans will be buying on the day.
Surely this will lead to big queue's outside the ticket office on match days when everyone arrives just before kick-off..
We've already been down this route before and people were left queueing after the game had started---and some of those people on seeing the que left never to return--and we can't afford to let that happen again surely..
There will need to be at least five or six people manning the ticket office for it to be viable i would have thought.

| Quote: Marshland "Turn up earlier
The majority of fans will turn up with less than half an hour to kick-off----always have and always will.
All i'm saying is that if there's a large queue at the ticket office that put even one supporter off then it's a bad decision.
It will only take the new match day bus that's scheduled to arrive at 2:30pm and people leaving the St-John Ellis Bar around that time for a queue to form-------i hope i'm wrong.

| The bus will be lucky to get there fo 2.30pm. Based on the pick up times, theres not much time to allow for hold ups or busy traffic etc..
The pick up times (for 3pm kick offs) are Carcroft (The Moon Inn) 1.35pm, Askern (Askern Timber) 1.45pm, Toll Bar ARLFC (on A19 outside club) 1.55pm, Bentley (Magnet) 2pm, Bentley (Tesco's, High Street) 2.05pm, Bentley (The Drum) 2.08pm, Bentley (Good Companions) 2.10pm, Town Centre (Church View, opposite Tesco) 2.15pm.

| A couple of things occured to me;
How will away supporters react to this?
How many Season Tickets have been sold?
Just trying to get a handle on how many people will need to purchase a ticket on the day from the ticket office?
Lets say we've sold 250 season tickets (?) that would mean 750 people wanting a ticket for a crowd of 1000. But what if the crowds (as the Club would surely like) rose above that?
As has been said earlier in the thread, there is a distinct possibility that the vast majority will arrive in the final 30 minutes before kick-off especially a fair chunk of the away support I would suspect.
My earlier analogy references a crowd of 1000 but surely there will be a number of games next season where that number is exceeded (the visits of Halifax and Widnes would seem obvious ones and possibly Featherstone and Sheffield if they are having decent seasons).
I suppose we'll get a flavour of it on Sunday (weather permitting).

| This sounds like a recipe for disaster. The last time we did this it was a total joke!! Its alright saying get there earlier but i pefer to have a couple of beverages elsewhere before i pay a visit to the SJE bar. Its also difficult if you are trying to encourage friends to come along, i can get my ticket before game day as i know i am going but they then need to queue for god knows how long. What a great way to try to get more fans down, especially when they see theres only approx 1000 watching!!!!
I suppose we will just have to wait and see.
