Still the search for that elusive victory goes on.

This weekend a trip to the Tetley's Stadium for a clash with 4th placed Dewsbury Rams who leap-frogged Featherstone Rovers in the Championship table following a Summer Bash victory over Heavy Woollen neighbours Batley Bulldogs.

To say that Dewsbury are a bogey side is no understatement, as no matter how well the Dons have been going in recent seasons, the Rams have been victorious when the two sides meet.

Certainly no easy task then but perhaps the players and supporters will take some heart from last weekend's display, which whilst not yielding any competition points, did at times hint at a step in the right direction.

As you say a bit of a bogey side. We have been here before, with what we thought was progress, and to be honest, Workington apart, I didn't think we had played that badly at the keepmoat, was unlucky not to get a result in some. A losing run is a hard thing to break, the longer it goes on, the harder you try, the harder it is to take. We need some luck, let's hope we get some.

Carl Hall has not ruled out using DR ...

From the Free Press ...

[iThe Dons, who have used ten Hull FC players as part of their dual-registration link-up with the Super League club this season, didn’t include one in yesterday’s game.

“We wanted to have a look at the (signed) players to see what they could do,” said Hall. “It might be a different story at Dewsbury on Sunday.”[/i

The Rams are indeed a 'bogey' side for us but like most bogeys you just have to get right up their noses. I hope we do ok not expecting miracles but a close score would be a confidence builder given that are very a good side at Home.

Cowling took a bang to the head, and Leaf with the obvious injury. Not sure on Hodson and Nicklas.

I would imagine Tony Miller has got James Cunningham in mind for the half-back position.

He's a solid player and we need to be better in that area of the field defensively. It looks like a good move to me.

That might well be the thought process and to some degree I understand it but we are crying out for creativity and desperately need a flair player to compliment Wilko (especially whilst he's making his way back from another injury).

I was talking to a long-time supporter yesterday who has stopped going more because the current fare is not appealing to watch rather than the defeats. I'm sad to say I don't think he's alone.

I agree that we need to play an attractive style of rugby whenever possible. I understand why people are put off by what we've been offering this season. It's not been exciting to watch.

I don't think Danny Niklas is the answer to our problems either attack-wise or defensively. At least James Cunningham has a strong chance of curing one of the problems, with the possibility of helping solve the second problem.

Had James Cunningham not been available, I would have gone for Tom Hodson at half-back as I think we need to make more use of his pace, which in turn could bring us the creativity we are badly missing.

The Free Press website says that the new head coach is likely to be present at tomorrow's game.

If we had Cunningham for the rest of the season I might agree, though I think his best position is hooker, but he is likely to play one game then not be available. Personally I would rather we had a settled half back pairing, who knew what to expect from each other, and the rest of the team had an idea what might happen. Constantly swapping and changing does nothing to help in my opinion. If DN is not injured, I would have rather seen him and wilko develop an understanding. But obviously I'm just a supporter, I will trust the professionals.
