I would have thought that this list may have prompted some kind of debate,? Is there anyone willing to start the ball rolling its a bit quiet on here at the mo, so lets have a few views/thoughts ,

I'm surprised we are talking to Hirst - I thought he had already left tbh, but curious to see what he can do given the chance. I'm also surprised we are talking to Wright considering our other hooking options, hopefully we don't end up with an over abundance of hookers and shortages elsewhere again.

J P-O must have been in line for the award of most useless signing of last season.
Thank goodness he has gone.

As for the list of those being talked to ... if we re-signed all of them, our squad would be complete and we could kiss promotion goodbye.

Half of them MUST go to be replaced by BETTER!

It better not be the same team as last season plus say two or three incomers.

I'm reserving my final judgement at the moment but I do share S/O's concerns.

In an earlier thread I said that we needed to replace at least half of the team. I still stand by that. Some players may come on from last year but in the main the squad we had wasn't good enough. Signing all the same players up won't be good enough. In effect, we need to let the not so good ones go, keep the better ones, and top them up with some class to get us out of this division.

I will watch the new signings with interest and see whether the club are plugging the gaps that I feel we need to fill. In my opinion we need five or six more new faces to go with the better lads from last season.

For me, what we have is three lists, two of which only really told us that Reece Williams and Joe Pickets O'Donnell have gone (everything else on lists 1 & 3 had been previously reported).

As others have already commented, list 2 (ongoing discussions) causes concerns, as I personally would be looking at probably half of that list for next season, with at least half a dozen new signings.

Agree with everything said previously on this thread.However as CH has stated in the last two ITD's that there are more signings to be announced,why are they not being published.This constant drip feed of information makes no sense at all. Surely by announcing signings sooner rather than later,if they are better than the players who have not signed yet, it can only have a positive effect on season ticket sales.I also suspect that those players who so far have not signed are probably trying to get better deals with other clubs or perhaps waiting to see who these new signings are in order to consider whether they may have competition for their place in the team if they do sign.As already stated some of the players considering deals are not good enough for next season if as CH says "We are going to have a real go next season".As well as quality we want big lads who won't be out muscled when the opposition is a big tough team.
Just don't get it at all.

I forget who famously quoted that if you keep doing the same thing, don't expect different results (or something along those lines) and I'm experiencing some deja vu from the last close season.

This, coupled with an unknown fixture list, means my season ticket money is staying firmly in my pocket for the time being.

I'm still to be convinced that 2017 will be any better than 2016 but I'll be delighted to be proved wrong.

Hi ,peeps well we have certainly come back to life on here re, "the team". I think there is some very well put and valid points above we (the fans ) need to see major changes from last years team, the maybe they will maybe they wont, "sign list" is not what we want to see. I think we all agree that we dont want to panic yet about new signings and some more "outstanding " players will come on board. As stated the majority of last years team with just a couple of new names will not be good enough to bring the fans flooding back. Keep the interest coming guys there,s fookall on telly. COYDS

Thought we would have announced all the returning players by now .

We need D F-Jones on board , do not know how long Matt Nicholson is out for but he was one of the stand out forwards last year along with Tonks, Castle & Milton .

Big names/big players with no heart for Donny and who get paid loads for playing, they wont get us promotion!.. It's the lads who train hard each week for nothing who need to have a chance.. The size of the pack is nothing, it's the strength and heart that matters.. The bigger they are the harder they fall

People on here say the problem has been we did not have any big name players ! As for big wages we fans do not know what wages the players are on .
Eagerly waiting for our final squad list .

I have no inside info , just reading between the lines .
Hope its not more bull****. Not sure a lot of fans including myself could cope with 2 or more seasons more in this league.

What would you describe as special. I think we need about 6 more new signings & only sign a few more of last seasons squad !
