Quote: donny hkr "I don't think the whole club Doncaster thing has worked at all, yes it is keeping the club afloat, but the Dons always seem, to me, to be an afterthought. Playing home games out of Doncaster does little to encourage new fans. Yes the Barrow game had a decent crowd, but I expect today's to be a bit different. Not sure what the alternative is, if there is one, but without Carl Hall the Dons would not be still competing, of that I'm sure. Anyway back to to oblivion.'"
A few months ago a certain frequent Doncaster Rovers poster on their Viking chat room was really unhappy that Club Doncaster were paying the Dons players £600 per week for doing nothing, thus in his view depriving the Rovers of crucial funds. I have no way of knowing if that figure is correct but that sum is not an afterthought IMO.
It was Carl Hall who approached GB with the idea of Club Doncaster rescuing the Dons after the consortium at that time ran out of funds. The lack of real progress on the pitch (promotion) is the frustration that drives the attack on Club Doncaster.
No Club Doncaster = No Dons.
