So where do we think our squad is at the minute? For me it depends on who we sign next. For my money we need a quality fullback and 2 good wings (or 2 fullbacks 1 wing depending on where we imagine playing rickett) a backup half ( or hooker depending on where we imagine boas playing most) 2 Big props and 3 big backrowers ( although 2 big ones plus Jordie would be good too) just posting since we now know not all the unreleased players will be resigned.

Adam i wouldnt have thought we need 2 good wingers surely Doherty & Ritson plus a back up winger Halliday or Chisholm . Agree about a full back unless Logan is pencilled in.
We should know a little more when we see who are retained .

Thought he might be fullback tbh. Plus I love the strength in depth in centres with Tali Logan and Smeaton. Hope we end up that strong in other positions too.

I believe Jordie is on his way back from down-under so he will probably be announced next week.

I’ve been doing some analysis of the squad:

Current signed up squad = 17 players. I’ve listed the players in the positions they can possibly play in.

Props:
Douglas, Peltier, Spiers, Boyle, and Foster

Hooker:
Carter, Cross, Boas

Second Row:
Foster, England, Wilkinson

Loose Forward:
Wilkinson

Halves:
Beharrell, Chase, Boas, Cross

Wingers:
Doherty, Rickett

Centres:
Smeaton, Tali, Logan, Doherty

Full Back:
Logan, Boas, Doherty

With the likelihood of 4 or 5 players being injured at any one time, a 24-man squad seems a minimum requirement. On that basis we are seven players short of this at the moment.

If we sign Jordie, Chrimes, and Halliday, we will have the wing and centre positions covered along with the loose-forward spot. Jordie could also provide emergency cover in the halves if need be.

We are still short in the forwards. We would need two more props and two more second-rowers. Keiran Dixon could be one of the second-rowers. That would leave three places vacant.

Regarding the full-back position, I’m pretty certain this must be Jack Logan. The reason for my thinking is that Smeaton and Tali are both out-and-out centres and will be amongst the first names on the team sheet. Where would Jack Logan play other than at full-back? He could play on the wing but I doubt it.

Full back cover would be provided by Boas and Doherty.

Who fills the two missing prop places and the second row spot (to replace Frankie) will be key.

Hopefully, there will be three new significant signings to plug these gaps.

Other gaps will also remain if Jordie, Halliday, Chrimes, and Dixon, don’t re-sign.
