Quote AdamH="AdamH"A pity more people didn't see it. A very good performance and one of the best in terms of all round play.
Nice to see we held a dummy half up over the line this time.
Extremely pleased as before the game I thought these would be at a similar level to ourselves and saw this game as a potential banana skin tbh.
Ps It is always nice to nil someone isn't it?'"
Stopping their dummy half going over was very pleasing after the try we conceded against Whitehaven. I thought it could be a banana skin too. I was hopeful before the match but not overly confident, especially after what Newcastle did to us last season.
Towards the end especially, I felt it was important to keep them to nil. It must give a team a huge amount of confidence. Confidence and self-belief is so important in sport. There are a few things we now need to focus on:
1) We need to be able to play like this away from home as well as at home
2) We've got to be able to play with the same intensity against the very best in the league (perhaps York and Bradford).
3) We've got to be able to bounce back if we lose a game too.
I'm really heartened for all the players and the club that we've got off to a good start and I'm really pleased for us (as fans) too. Even if we don't finish in top spot, we should all be encouraged that a top five finish is well within this side's capabilities, which means that at the end of the season we will have a very realistic chance of going up.
We shouldn't get carried away though because injuries can be the ruin of many a good side.
