One of our more consistent performers over the past couple of seasons. Certainly good enough to remain in the Championship.

As has been said, we wish him well and thanks for the memories.

S Hossack (Doncaster Free Press) said, [i“Fullback Dave Scott has been very consistent and has often provided a threat in attack.”[/i

I would agree with this. Also, on the pitch with his energy, footwork, ball handling, speed and agility, D Scott provides good entertainment value. He catches the ball superbly, returns the kicks with speed and so helps provides a good platform for the next Donny attack. Perhaps in the Scotland squad, he practises by catching Danny Brough’s famous high floating kicks!

In his final match with Donny – Hunslet Hawks – he started as fullback, moved to hooker and then moved to half back. So in the one match, he played three of the spine positions and played all of them well. Not many players could do that.

During this Hunslet Hawks match, from an offload on the left from L Welham, D Scott carried the ball towards the centre, quickly sidestepped an opposition player, passed the ball to R Wilkinson who then threw a wide pass to T Hodson and he ran in the try in the right corner.

Against Featherstone, he reminded P Cooke of the threat in attack that he offered. With some quick slick footwork, he squeezed through the smallest of gaps between P Cooke and P Sykes to run in from 30 metres. At first it seemed that P Cooke had him, but P Cooke just seemed to grasp at thin air. D Scott was just too quick and agile.

At a Workington match he skilfully wrong footed Jarrod Sammut and skipped past him.

In a Sheffield match, in the torrential rain, he lined up the ball by the far touchline, kicked the ball to send it neatly through the sticks.

At a London Broncos match, as D Scott caught the ball close to the opposition 10m line, he nearly got his head ripped off by an opposition player. He sidestepped and ducked, beat the man and gave a long pass out to P Fox who, with some nifty footwork of his own, ran in a try.

In the 2014 season, just we all thought that Donny would be beaten by Barrow, D Scott pulled off two superb late tries which were converted by S Sanderson.

Who could forget D Scott against Rochdale? He collected a loose ball at our try line, side stepped the immediate opposition and accelerated away. At the half way mark he side stepped the fullback and continued his run of the full length of the pitch to the try line to score. At the end his legs cramped up and Donny team mates gave him some assistance.

It would be good if in the near future, we could attract D Scott back to the Donny fold.

In the meantime, I wish him all the best at Batley Bulldogs.
