Here's a summary of what the RFL are on about:
Toulouse will almost certainly be part of Championship 1 next season, making it a 15 team competition. A team from Toronto may be admitted for the following season.
In Championship 1, everyone will play each other once. This will cover 14 games, seven at home and seven away.
The league will then split into two. The top eight will be in one league with the bottom seven in another.
The RFL don't mention whether points from the first eight games will be carried over to the second phase of the competition but I'd guess they will be carried over, like they have been when the Championship split this season.
If we finish in the top four of the 15 team league, we would then get 4 more home games, giving us 11 home games in total.
If we finish between 5th and 8th, we would get a further 3 home games. I'll discard the possibility of us finishing outside the top 8!
Presumably, our season tickets will cover us for either 10 or 11 league games based on that schedule.
The season starts off with the iPro Sports Cup. This is a straight knock-out competition for the UK based Championship 1 sides taking part plus two amateur teams. Toulouse will NOT play in this competition. I would imagine our season tickets won't cover entry into any of these cup games. Maybe the club will be informing us about this shortly. The final of the iPro Sports Cup was played as the first match of the Championship Summer Bash this season. The RFL doesn't say whether that will be the case in 2016.
Promotion to the Championship will be decided in the same way as this year. The top team (after 21 games) will play the second team. The winner will be automatically promoted. The loser will join the 3rd, 4th, and 5th teams in a play-off to decide the second promotion place.
I assume the top team isn't automatically promoted due to the fact that the teams don't play each other at home and away. Not playing each other at home and away creates an uneven playing field as some teams may get an easier ride than others. Therefore the top team might not necessarily be best! I'd normally be in favour of the top team getting automatic promotion but I can see why a play-off between the top two could be the fairer way to do it.
