Glad to see a bit of humble pie being eaten on here tonight, particularly by Stand Offish with reference to Waterman at full back. c020.gif Nowt wrong with that we all get stuff wrong occassionally, but he didn't put a foot wrong all night and was easily the best player on the park, although Sanderson, Castle and even moreso Robinson were standout tonight. Defensively the entire squad was superb and I personally was disappointed (as I hope the players are) when they scored as I don't think they deserved it and nilling them would have sent out an even stronger message to the Championship next season.
Paul Cooke had his worst game to date, and I say that based on only one part of his usual performances-his kicking in open play today was crap compared to his usual near perfection. Their gameplan of running at Cooke (as mentioned earlier) is strange as despite being the best half back in the division by a country mile he's also 6' 5" and about 18 & 1/2 st so hardly an easy target! icon_biggrin.gifOH:
Our only attacking flaw was not constantly attacking the woeful Mark Calderwood who even at his peak?? was a poor player when it came to defence. He couldn't tackle the Sunday dinner or catch pox in a Thai brothel! c020.gif

Happy days when all we have to grumble about is not nilling the 2nd placed team in the league! a014.gif

I haven't seen any posts on the Town forum that blames anbody but themselves for losing the game. Yes, it has been questioned as to why one trip was put on report and another one wasn't, but both are being viewed by the disciplinary review panel, which answers that point.

Most posters have said that Doncaster were the better team and outplayed us on the night, just as we did at Workington to your team. You are coming across as a "graceless winner"!!!!!!!!!

I'll admit I'm sour GeeKay, but thats nothing to do with the game last Thursday (which we completely dominated).

What I am sour about is how Workington got a Rugby League World Cup game. An appalling ground that requires £500,000 being spent on it, just to get it to a minimum standard. Yet the Keepmoat Stadium, the best stadia outside of Super League (and actually better than many Super League grounds) gets nothing.

Doncaster has fantastic transport infrastructure networks, but we don't get selected as we are in South Yorkshire. Another ridiculous decision by the inept individuals running the rugby league.

Did your local authority apply for a game at the Keepmoat, originaldragon? The Scotland team is going to be based in West Cumbria and at first it was going to be a joint bid between the two local authorities, Allerdale (Workington) & Copeland (Whitehaven) with any games going to be held in the new stadium at Whitehaven and the Scottish team staying in Workington.

For whatever reason Copeland decided to go for it alone but it transpired that they couldn't guarantee that their stadium would be ready (or even built) by October 2013. It was at that point that Allerdale council and Workington Town put in a bid to rescue the World Cup matches that had already been allocated to Whitehaven.

We all wish that we could have a nice stadium such as the Keepmoat (didn't you have a Challenge Cup semi-final there) and maybe one day our area will get something tangible instead of the lips service we are used to on so many other matters. Anyone who has travelled to our part of the country will know it takes 40 minutes to get to a motorway. Our area had quite a lot of sorrowful events in the past 3 years or so, the Whitehaven shootings, the Workington Floods that took away all our bridges (we hope that our new bridge will be open in September from November 2009) and then the school bus crash, so it's nice to get the likes of the World Cup for the area not just for our dilapidated stadium.
