"Rugby League is a simple game played by simple people. Rugby union is a complex game played by w*nkers" - Laurie Daley:32781.jpg

Quote: donny hkr "yea, was in the stand for the first half but. my son needed the toilet, there was no way we were gona get back in so ended up behind the sticks'"

Were you the geezer who sat alongside the bloke with the broken ankle by any chance, telling your little lad to be careful as he went past? Mickey Rogerson, should have been playing, broke it in the trial match.

Enjoy life today, yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come....:

Quote: jimi_boom "I WENT TO THE GAME ON SUNDAY AND REALLY ENJOYED IT, I THOUGHT IT WAS A GREAT TURN OUT.

FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD THE TRNAING WAS VER HARD TO ORGANISE FOR THE SELCT SIDE THIS YEAR AND WHAT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED NEXT YEAR IS THAT THE LOCAL TEAMS HAVE THE FIRST FEW WEEKENDS OFF AFTER XMASS AND THE BOYS CAN TRAIN ON A SATRUDAY TOGETHER.

FOR ME I THOUGH BOTH STARTING PROPS FOR THE SELECT SIDE WENT VERY WELL AS DID THE NUMBER 9 BUT MY STAND OUT PLAYER FOR THE SLECT SIDE WAS THE FULL BACK I THOUGH HE HAD AN EXCELLENT GAME.

I ALSO THINK THAT THE SECOND ROW FROM MOORENDS ALEX PALMER COULD HAVE BEEN PLAYING FOR THE DONS AS HE COULD EASILY MAKE IT AT THAT LEVEL BY THE WAY HE WAS PLAYING.

OVERALL A GREAT DAY BUT YOU HAVE TO WONDER WHAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE IF PAUL COOKE HAD BEEN PLAYING.'"

I couldn't agree more!.. It was a great game all round and hard fought from both sides regardless of the score, it was grass roots rugby, mud and all ...But from what I read in today's Free Press this game was supposed to give the Donny (Amateur) players the opportunity to 'earn a contract' with the Dons,, Well It didn't happen last year, so maybe it might happen this year then?? cos most of them were the same players from last year.. Give the lads a chance icon_beat.gif

I didn’t realise the amature side were in the shop window so to speak.

if that is the case then i could certainly see one or two of the players who were in the select side being signed up.

After all local lads playing for their home town club would be a great deal for both party’s.
