| To only lose by 18 points is a massive result for the 'Vikings'. Well done.

Paddy Flynn was very good. Was it him who regathered his own chip kick and then booted it to the right, caught by someone else who scored? Brilliant try that. Best one of the night.
It's good to know that a St Helens lad scored the first try at Langtree Park, even though he was playing for Widnes!

| We gave them a real good game tonight and the lads can be proud of themselves. Really like the new stadium. Well done Saints.

| Well played Widnes.
You certainly displayed more attacking creativity than St Helens for much of the game. Your kicking game was much better than St Helens as well.
Although a friendly its quite clear the team don't intend to simply make up the numbers and once the team gels a bit more some of the other clubs will not look forward to playing against you.

Yeah I thought we gave you a really good game. Good luck for the season ahead. I think we'll surprise a few along the way.

| It was supposed to be 13,000 and sold out but the attendance was less than this which is strange.

Where did the 13,000 figure come from? It was announced by Saints as a reduced capacity but I don't remember them ever putting a figure on it?
The official attendance was 11,900.

The 13,000 limited capacity was printed in the St Helens Star and Reporter.

I hear it was Anthony Watts, who could be a real star if he stays fit.

He looked pretty good last night to be honest but it's only a friendly game.

| Thanks to all the Widnes fans who came , we were very rusty, and it showed , but really enjoyed the way Widnes play and Paddys second try was a beauty , a Widnes fan asked me last night if I thought you would come bottom, ? , if you play like that first half all the way through the game you will scare the living daylights out of some teams,

He played okay, took his try well.
Didn't do anything outstanding though but he certainly didn't do anything bad. Fairly solid game with a well taken try would sum it up really.
The two players I was most impressed with where Rhys Hanbury and Anthony Watts. Both looked creative and marshalled Widnes round the park well.
Rhys Hanbury was the best player on the pitch for me, very good kicking game and looked threatening in attack. Certainly had the measure of Soliola and scored a good solo try.
