My point was more Westerman was a 21 year old SL Young player of the Year and international(?) with about 10 years value to Hull FC. Tickle is 29 from what you're saying wants out. Also a few sides wanted Westerman we don't know of this is the case with Tickle who as you say would be free the year after.

All these play a factor in a transfer fee amount.

Some good points TBH, If I was Hull I wouldn't sell him for less that 100K (and only if we have a replacement signed), which I think he is easily worth, we are already losing Manu next year and possible a couple of props, losing them plus Tickle wouldn't be great for Hull.

Tickle would be a great signing for Widnes, but he's never worth a transfer fee at the age of 29.

Indeed, I wouldn't have thought any player was, transfer fees are very rare for anyone over the age of about 24 these days.

It is clear, that if Widnes are to recruit a decent squad of players, we'll have to pay transfer fees, or miss out on players. The age won't always play a part in that.
