My mother handed me a piece of the Daily Mirror about 16 years ago with the bit I quoted just as I was starting my business , it was in the letters page sent in by somebody asking if anybody knew the origins of it
They said it had been the motivation for a lifetimes worth of ' projects ' from restoring bikes,cars,houses owning all sorts of pets and animals , starting and running various businesses and if I remember correctly they said they had just taken a new job in the middle east at the age of 60 odd
I have used it many times to inspire and re focus [ not always with success I might add ] when things have been going wrong |

Very interesting story that, Starbug. I assume it worked for you?
However, Martin Luther King and President Kennedy couldn't inspire people to turn up to a lower league sport like RL that play in an ever impoverished league, which is in the process of becoming nothing more than a feeder club league for SL clubs, and which has clubs that have no chance of ever being promoted solely through the sport they play itself.
Only the RFL can put good people who run these clubs in a position to achieve big crowds in this division, but they seem to be doing their damnedest to undermine them all at the moment. |

I have heard him intimate that he wouldn't take further rejection lying down. But that's a bit vague really, isn't it?
I haven't heard SOC state out-right that he would take the RFL to court.

On what basis could SOC take the RFL to court? If you had concrete rules and a legally set of binding criteria then maybe you'd have a case but the sheer vagueness of the whole franchise system makes legal action nigh on impossible - not to mention the risk of alienating the RFL forever should a course of action be started.

That's the thing which actually might make it possible imo. Widnes would probably have to win everything from now on though to have a strong case.
A lot would also depend on which club they put in ahead of us too. Personally I doubt he'd take them to court. I think he'd just pack it in. And I wouldn't blame him for doing so. |

The last franchises couldnt be appealed against, the next ones are open.........safe to say we are the strongest link so nobody will moan when we get in.
