Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”

They might call us paranoid, but all but the most thick amongst the expansionistas must realize there's something not quite right here. So it will be very hollow if they do.

It's going to be funny to see how they explain themselves, if they now go against the Championship bid criteria for Toulouse in 2012.
But never under estimate just how low the RFL are prepared to stoop.

They'll just ignore it all from here on in - much as they did with Celtic's visa farce. The RFL are whiter than white.

Yes, they'll just come up with some ridiculous excuse and then remain totally aloof to any criticism that comes their way.

Very flatcapperish of you Pepe.
Should we get Mulder and Scully in? this sounds like an X file type scenario, Richard Lewis as the smoking guy?

Been on the Widnes board a lot today Littlerich, seems to me you were showing your feelings towards the Vikings. That inner love for all things black and white.
See you at the Stobarts in a couple of weeks mate.

Someone should get that Hitler joke going. You know…. The one the Leyther put up on their board… and turn it into Richard Lewis trying to find out who leaked the truth to the LE and ranting at them all for showing him up. He could have a go at the frog official too. That would be funny.

| After sending an email to the rfl today this is the response.
Toulouse Olympique and Super League licensing
The RFL has confirmed that Toulouse Olympique do need to appear in the 2010 Co-operative Championship Grand Final to earn the right to apply for a Super League licence from the 2012 season onwards.
Contrary to some reports, the mechanism by which Toulouse can apply for a Super League licence remains unchanged from the position in 2008, when the last round of licensing was completed.
Should they reach the Grand Final, Toulouse Olympique will also have to address factors that are not relevant to UK-based Championship clubs, including how a second French club can add to Super League.

| It's all very poor this... what a terrible terrible system this is. A system that allows the governing body to cherry pick the teams 'they want' in their top flight division.
How ever is this progress???
Under promotion and relegation none of this would have been an issue!!!
Bring in tougher financial scrutiny checks for clubs that want to apply for promotion should they win the Championship Grand Final...
Bring in sterner minimum ground requirements...
Bring in an enforced quota on the number of 'home-grown' players need to be part of the 1st team squad..
Re-visit the Framing the Future process for grounds within SL that occupy dilapidated grounds...
Ultimately though the team winning the Championship grand final should be the team every year that gets to apply for promotion.
If Barrow had been promoted last year as they should... the world would be a much more harmonious place...
Ourselves, Fax, Leigh and others would be competing for the glittering prize at the end of the season..
You would be squaring up to Saints, Leeds etc and reaping the benefits of improved attendances etc
Salford or whoever would be facing up to life in the Championship but aware that a good season might see them back..
Invest more in the lower leagues, lessen the gap between the elite and the not so fortunates.... try and make it less crushing for a team to drop a single division.
It's not rocket science is it...... it just doesn't necessarily get the RFL what they want..
and that is a league that features teams in..
Manchester, Liverpool, London, Leeds, Birmingham, Paris, etc etc.. with a European competition against French, Italian and Spanish sides..
This is the dream that sends Lewis and Wood to sleep every night with a grin and a warm feeling in their pyjamas pants.

| Putting the meat on the bones ............
Quote: Martyn Sadler "I'm not sure where David Howes comes into this, or "Mark" Rylance, but below I have set out the correct version of the events that led to this story being published.
Mike Rylance, who specialises in French Rugby League for League Express, read an online report in the Midi-Olympique newspaper that had quotes from Gilles Dumas, the Toulouse coach, that appeared to suggest that his club didn't have to reach the Grand Final to qualify to make an application to Super League.
He telephoned the Toulouse Chairman, Carlos Zalduendo, who confirmed that he understood that Toulouse didn't have to reach the Grand Final to qualify to make an application for Super League.
Mike then telephoned the RFL Media Manager John Ledger, who promised to get back to him to confirm or otherwise the veracity of this particular interpretation.
John then got back in touch with Mike, and confirmed that Carlos' view was the correct interpretation. That was after John spoke to a senior official at the RFL who confirmed that version of the truth.
John and Mike have both confirmed this version of events with me, but John is not prepared to name the RFL official who confirmed that Toulouse would not have to reach the Grand Final.
Subsequently, on Monday, John issued a press release on behalf of the RFL saying quite bluntly that Toulouse do have to reach the Grand Final "contrary to some reports".
The press release did not make it clear that those "reports" had actually originated from the RFL itself, and it made it look as though League Express had simply printed a story that wasn't true.
Clearly I was less than happy with the RFL not acknowledging that it had given our reporter the wrong information, although John subsequently apologised to me, as I said earlier in this thread.'"
