Wire still look mediocre at best. Wigan will be a different proposition next week.

How many players have Warrington developed? How many have other clubs developed and then basically poached?

Parry Gordon's passes,Les Boyd's strong runs,Mike Gregory's workrate,Des Drummond's tries,Jonathan Davies' sheer genius...........oh,and Alan Rathbone's punches! All memories of the legendary venue which was Wilderspool stadium. Gone maybe,but never,ever forgotten. Warrington 15,Australia 12.:icons077e_files/5445-3661prettyflower-msnicons.jpg

Current widnes prop pickersgill is a product of the wire youth system. You have loaned penny from us and now seem interested in cooper. Is that not poaching too then?

We had the measure of cas without getting out of 2nd gear and we played the heavy conditions quite well. No team in the league will blow their opposition off the park every single week, sometimes you have to grind out wins too. 4 points from 2 games, can't ask for more than that and I am sure we will up the intensity level next week against wigan. They have never won a competitive fixture at our ground and I am sure that run will continue next week!

But only pickersgill has joined you on contract, and that's because he was shown the door at wires. Other fringe players may join you short term to gain match practice at a lower level than SL but higher level than academy rugby, but I doubt any current warrington player would willingly leave the current challenge cup holders to join you permanently, that just wouldn't make sense.

I agree, but I think it would have more to do with leaving a club that has a £1.6m salary cap to join a club that has £300k.

Quote: In EnemyTerritory "Ha ha... I was thinking just that.
Just out of interest... have you been inside Wilderspool at all recently. I'm wondering what it looks like now from the inside. I drive past it everyday and wonder.

Some brilliant memories of derby games in that old ground. I personally loved visiting it. The noise you could generate under that shed in the away end was tremendous.

Despite all the talk of new stadiums I do hark back and fondly think of grounds like Central Park and the terrific games we had at places like that.
Sitting in half empty grounds like the Galpharm, the JJB and the KC just don't provide the same level of atmosphere.'"

I always have a peak through the gates when I go the chippy, grass growing in the stands these days always puts a smile on my face walking down Fletcher street proper ground.

To be honest any talented youngster would chose a superleague club.So their be something wrong if no players developed.Widnes are the only team that runs a academy in the championship. It is now the time to give widnes a chance in superleague.I am confident we will do better than salford, as we will get bigger gates and ste oconnor will splash out.So comparing teams with a different budget is no contest. icon_lol.gif Anyway i am happy if we can pick wire and wigan talent if we can win the championship. icon_wink.gif
