The clip Sky showed was from the Dean try, and it was just wide.
Was that not the contentious one?

The contentious one was where Hanbury slipped and it was from Dean's score IIRC. The only video of the conversion attempt is from the North stand and doesn't zoom very well so I'd be surprised that you can be so sure.
A saints fan I know in work was sat in block C in the Saints end (West Stand) right behind the sticks and even he admitted that the ball was just inside the right stick (left as he was looking at it.) Also an interesting opinion from someone stood directly below the kick.

“@danprendyYES... I thought it did
I'll leave it at that.

Come on, this is surely part and parcel of the game. Next week the decision will go for us. Yes we lost but, what a turn around of late. Onwards and upwards.
WTID.
Paul.
Yeah, I agree mate and I don't expect one email was ever actually fired off. Just complete frustration from us Widnes speccies. Even today I feel absolutely gutted still if I'm honest. You're in the fortunate position that you're an established Super League side, with a relatively recent history of successes.
We are in the position of having to try and justify our place in the league and although good performances do us a favour it's the points we've won at the end of the season that would provide us with a better argument.

| Losing because of a refereeing error is never easy, but at the end of the day big boys dont cry, if we want respect from other clubs and their supporters lets just take it on the chin and get on with it. No good being seen as whingers.

| The ghost goal was the one where Hanbury slipped. I've watched it numerous times but it's impossible to tell from the official footage in the North Stand. Betts said the club video showed it to go over though, I assume that was filmed in the South.

| Ive just watched The Super League show, and I freeze framed the disputed goal.
I can say most definately that it was a good conversion.
I froze it ,and its quite clear that the post is behind the ball !!!!
Its not as if the ball was high above the sticks---it was about six feet below the top of the sticks.
It looks like the touch judge on the left had made his mind up early that it was a miss, and the other judge instinctively wave his flag as well..

No-one is particularly moaning still but it is a debating point. It's more annoying as refs decisions can be based on interpretation this should be clear cut! The club haven't moaned about it at all either.
Not to mention the fact that in sport it's usually the big boys that cry most

Agreed mate usually the highly paid premiership footballers.
I dont think Ive ever known a decision to be reversed because of fan pressure, I might be wrong tho.

| Come on guys, of course I wasn't serious about lobbying the RFL. I did however send a 'slightly' abusive e mail highlighting my disgust, not that it will make a bit of difference but it did make me feel better and on the subject of moaning, I've never seen as much moaning or arm flapping in the refs face as I did from wellens and hohaia on Sunday, if ganson was in charge one of them would have walked.
Never mind, us Vikings will just enjoy the view from up here on the moral high ground.
Its just above the sticks, perfect for judging goal kicks
