| its a shame the rfl could not appoint a ref that was not from the wakefield district and a well noted wakefield fan . I fined this very strange by the rfl the second half wakefield got nine penalty s on the bounce which change the game .

| The ref doesnt just award penalties for fun. Wakefields discipline was very good thats why we got no penalties, on the other hand ours was not so good. Mr Cross should also know better than to argue with the ref.
I thought the TV ref was more of a wakefield fan than the one on the pitch

It's funny isn't it... there were also plenty of times when a Wakefield player should have got a talking to, but didn't.
I mean, it's fine.. you've just got to accept that a referee from Wakefield, who listens to Wakefield players for decisions is not going to be too pro the opposition. I thought Lauititi's pat on the referee's back was cute too. Nice to say thanks and good manners to.

Well if you're going to do it for one side... would be a bit unfair to have picked up Wakefield for all of theirs.

| I enjoyed the game. It's a good ground and Widnes did well to get all the support back after a few years in the doldrums. Certainly a better start than I bet Salford get in there rebirth tonight.
It's just a shame about the pitch, because it made for a cracking game but the grazes and cuts may cause you problems as you go through the season.
Thought we were the better side overall but it was still anyone's game with ten minutes or so to go, so the score doesn't reflect the tension.
And I went to Paul's Widnes Fish Bar on the way back to the car. Very nice.
By the way, on the subject of the fish bar, what on earth is a "wet" and what the heck is a "mixture"?

| Great game great atmosphrere, worth the 140 mile round trip, went in the car and got home for 11.00. Both teams supported well and good noise came from both sets of fans, nisce stadium but I stood for the length of the game, can't see the point of seats in the end stands

| Really enjoyed the game yesterday (obviously)
However, I personally think Widnes will improve as the season goes on, getting the likes of Watts, Phelps, Kite and Briscoe back in the frame will lift you.
Danny Craven should keep his spot next week, played outstanding for you guys last night and definitely one to watch.
Good Luck for rest of season (except from when you visit Belle Vue )

So as for wishing us well. I will do the same to you. You may well need it yet.

Lets also remember 2 of your 3 try's came from mistakes / luck in mathers not booting ball out and the charge down other than that, there wasn't much created.
I thought Widnes had a tall imposing pack but their tactics were a bit old school.. leading with elbows, head high tackles. I think Widnes like ourselves will be much better later in the season when they have gelled and have their better players in.
Good Luck for rest of the season..

A 'wet' is pea juice thrown over your your chips. It is also known as 'pea wet'. A mixture is chips and mushy peas. I think it's only Widnes that uses these terms. I have never seen it anywhere else.
I believe they call chips and mushy peas an 'Irishman' in Crewe. So, I guess, everywhere has their own particular names for chippy food.

All tries come from mistakes or luck... Every try relies on someone not doing their job by missing a tackle or not being in the right place positionally. For example, one of our players rushed out the line for Mathers' try leaving a gaping hole.
As for our tactics being a bit old school, I've watched the game back and our 'tactics' are nothing out of the ordinary that you don't see in any other SL game. I must have missed all these other super league games where there isn't a single penalty for a high tackle. Let alone two or three.
I could throw your way that on at least six occasions the Wakefield player stepped forward off his mark and should have been penalised for it but didn't.

They were getting away with a lot of holding down, and slowing the play-the-ball, all night too. I don't suppose they would have noticed that though

Thaler is a Cas fan, which in our book makes him the anti Christ!!!
One win out of three games he reffed last year, zero from five the year before.
You lost fairly and squarely, talking clap trap won't change that.

| Quote: Dr Chim Richalds "What a wonderfully typical one sided view of the game.
I thought my post was fair, I certainly didn't need to add another fir the sake of balance.
All teams have injuries it's about having a squad that copes as best as it can in those circumstances, and I'm sure at some point in the season you will beat a team suffering similarly, it's the nature of the game.
I've just watched the game back on sky plus and for you to moan about conceding two tries while down to 12 men is laughable.
How it took 71 minutes for a widnes player, (take your pick from Moore, pickersgill and cross for high shots, Moore and ah van for profesional fouls) to receive any kind of reprimand, and then for it only to be descent is a joke and showed the ref up, and perversely only highlighted what many wakey fans expected, a one sided refereeing performance.
As I said you lost in the second half because you tired badly and a fitter better side took full advantage, for you to think otherwise doesn't reflect well on you.
As for the wakey fans shouting for widnes players to be sent off, watch the game back and ask yourself I'd the boot was on the foot and the red was continually doing nish, wouldn't you be tempted to acclaim the same? I'm sure the answer would be in the affirmative.

You sure about that, it's not what I hear but hell you may know more than me on this one.
I actually think we do OK with Ben in charge,
