Had a ride past fiddlers ferry today and had a little giggle to myself as all the smoke was blowing towards widnes! To quote a friend of mine who comes from widnes, "ah............smoking chimneys.................that's how i know i'm home!"

Aye, but that’s not it’s general direction. Like I said, the prevailing winds tend to blow east.
The power station mostly releases water vapour anyway. It’s just the which blows out of that middle stack you have to worry about. |

Ha ha... I was thinking just that.
Just out of interest... have you been inside Wilderspool at all recently. I'm wondering what it looks like now from the inside. I drive past it everyday and wonder.
Some brilliant memories of derby games in that old ground. I personally loved visiting it. The noise you could generate under that shed in the away end was tremendous.
Despite all the talk of new stadiums I do hark back and fondly think of grounds like Central Park and the terrific games we had at places like that.
Sitting in half empty grounds like the Galpharm, the JJB and the KC just don't provide the same level of atmosphere.

It's not the final finished product fragrance though is it, it's a nasty chemical smell!!
And yes IET, Bank Quay station platform is particularly unpleasant when that smell is in the air!
