I think ppl should stop talking about this on here now and wait till the club release a statement (which they should do!!)
I think its a disgrace that Widnes players were fighting after such shocking performances recently. HOW do they feel they have a right to a night out ??? Its a joke.
As far as i know TOC was looking at CCTV from the club to find out the truth until then i think it should be forgotton about and players should be delt with by the club.

And why the hell not!? Even if I've had a bad week at work a night out makes me feel alot better, if not I'm sat in going through it in my mind and making it all worse!
I think the players going out together is a good thing, if they didn't socialise together everyone would question that too. Maybe they should be going further a field than Widnes for a night out, that's my onlu suggestion.

ARE YOU JOKING ??
The difference is they are professionals you are OBVIOUSLY not.
you honestly think they deserve a night out after the SHIT they have been playing on the field??
i agree they should socialise but not out drinking when they are playing the level of an amatuer side.
we work in everyday jobs so it is acceptable and nobodys business if we go out drinking. They are sports men.
YOU ARE A JOKE

| Very amusing post Jamie.
You obviously feel that you 'own' the players because you chose to watch them. When are they allowed to go out then? After they've won 5 in a row? I very much doubt they'd have gone out if they'd have lost on Saturday, and please don't think that just Widnes players who go out, as I know a handful of SL players and they all, like any other normal 20 something bloke, like to beable to socialise once in a while.
I'm not condoning their behaviour of WHEN they were out, just my arguement that you think they 'shouldn't' go out, when it actually is, as you stated, 'nobodys business'.

Nothing wrong socialising but they should think about non alcholic drinks. If they where really fit and playing to the standard of halifax and then i let them off.But we miles behind them and need some strict ways.

| But the Fax players will go out too? I understand what you're saying, but it's only an issue because we aren't playing well.
If you ever bump into Gary Connolly, ask him about the Wigan team of the early 90's, what they did re:drinking was unreal but went out on a Sunday and blew the other team away, therefore John Monie didn't have an issue with it.

I am sorry i do not feel i 'own' the players. I also KNOW alot of players SL and NCL and they are entitled to nights out as is everyone else.
But i feel that them playing the way they are, they simply don't deserve a night out, PC was only in paper the other day saying he was cutting perks that the players have, surley this must mean nights out as well??
and like soilderboy states if they 1.fit, 2. good place in league. 3 playing well then do what they want but when they arn't its simply not acceptable and i hope PC and TOC give them the discipline they deserve !!

Yes mate they where a winning team so will get respect more.I played for army at football and semi pro when was younger.I know youngsters like to go out, like anybody else. But as i said they need start playing really well before i give them respect. If i was good enough i would have a drink once in awhile but i want to be superfit first. If i saw saints players out drinking i say fair play but i feel they need great results before going out gettting drunk.Just been a widnes fan is so painful it gets me angry they are crap and think they are so special.

As far as I'm concerned it is unrealistic to expect players not to have a drink...
I don't know of any sports club that has a complete ban on drinking (although Spurs are considering it I think) and most normally allow it provided it is on a certain night.. most normally nights after matches or nights before 'days off'. In this case both boxes are being ticked with no training on Sunday morning and with it following the York game. By doing this and putting in place these guidelines they hope to stop players from drinking on nights that might 'affect' their performance. I can't see drink being the reason for the current problems, there seems to be plenty of other reasons for it.
As someone mentioned on here it gives players a chance to unwind. Plus from the sounds of things it sounds like if it hadn't gone so wrong then maybe it might have actually benefitted us as it sounds like Webster and Smith were both out together..
No-one knows exactly what happened the story changes depending on the poster... there are various rumours that a mass brawl started between the players (unliklely) or (more reasonably) that it was between two players (not Smith and Webster) and that others simply became involved in trying to seperate the two parties. In a crowded room this could look like a massive scuffle.
Plus you also have the problem of ed up people wanting their story to sound more impressive and earn kudos by exaggerating the truth.
I think the two people will be dealt with internally and the matter will be put to bed.
