Quote: FunnyGuy "No one has mentioned the half a dozen or so wire fans that decided to buy tickets for the widnes end only to be escorted back to the wire standing side of the ground.'"

There are [ialways[/i Warrington fans in the West (away) stand. Always. Every game. Never in all my years watching Warrington have I ever seen them have to be moved for their own safety. Anyone who tries to blame these few Wire fans for starting the trouble or contributing to it (as I've seen on Twitter) is telling bare-faced lies. The trouble started when the stewards tried to eject a few of your 'fans' after two smoke bombs were thrown and those 'fans' decided to throw punches at the stewards instead. The sight of Widnes 'fans' running over to join in was disgusting.

I feel very sorry for the vast majority of your genuine fans. This behaviour seems to be following your club around recently and it undermines all the hard work your club have done on and off the pitch. It was a great game for you last night and sadly a lot of people are talking about the trouble rather than the result. Let's hope the club can get these idiots found and banned and we can all get back to talking about Rugby League again.

Not as pathetic as banning people from posting on the unwashed wakey forum just for telling the truth. Wakefield will be out of business soon anyway so they are insignificant

Have you seen the video of your security 'dealing with' the situation?

If anything's disgusting it's the way the stewards/security acted!

I'd be surprised if many commenting on here actually saw anything other than "trouble".

3 lessons here:

1) Widnes Fans: don't chuck smokebombs it's unnecessary, potentially unsafe and will get you kicked out

2) Stewards: Don't knock the living out of someone for throwing smoke bombs or gobbing off. You'll lose your job and may be charged

3) Widnes Fans: If a steward is pasting an idiot for chucking smoke bombs or anything else, get the attention of the police, film it or report it to the club/police after the game. Don't intervene with violence and expect any decent outcome. If it's a mate then intervene before and stop him chucking stuff on the pitch or tell him to go peacefully if he's gonna get chucked out.

Maybe a fourth should be don't drink alcohol if it turns you into an idiot. I used to act like an idiot when drunk (not at the rugby mind and not every time I drank) so I quit 10 years ago. Not had a scrap since funnily enough. It's the common factor in all the recent incidents. The Wakefield incident could easily have happened when I was at Cas away but the idiots singing offensive stuff were far enough away from the home fans and the stewards nipped it early, ejecting the worst offender and promising his idiot mates they'd keep him safe cos he was so far gone. Have to say they were brilliant, the idiots behaved and it made the rest of the game far more enjoyable.

At Hull it was a slight over reaction by the stewards followed by a complete over reaction by the drunk. Enough said.

This lastest one however has hallmarks of fans planning to cause trouble from the get go and if so then they should be banned for life along with anybody who did anything other than defend themselves when attacked (I include the stewards here).

That's right, blame the steward and completely ignore the reason the stewards waded in in the first place.

I don't disagree with that

I agree with that. There was trouble and an uneasy atmosphere from before kick off. Our group in the South Stand commented before kick off that all away fans congregated in the middle of the West Stand, however the very vocal Widnes fans last night congregated towards the South Stand end, chanting anti-Wire songs and deliberately being provocative. It was into the first half before we heard a pro-Widnes song and not an anti-Wire one.

FWIW we had a great view of the trouble, after the second smoke bomb was thrown and the stewards moved in we saw them having words and attempting to eject someone. At which point a fan seemed to reach over the barrier and punch the steward, the steward responded in kind and all hell broke loose. Added to by more fans coming charging in and the police wading in with their batons. I'm not in any way condoning the steward's behaviour but it was provoked and he was not the instigator. For me the football season can't come soon enough and hopefully these idiots will disappear back to the dark side rather than tarring our sport.

i am still hear some have work to go to, and no i would not defend what happend last night but it was totaly different from what hapend at b v there the widnes fans were attacked without provacation last night was caused by fans throwing smoke bombs and they should have been ejected BUT when have bounsers been given the right to eject people by first knocking them senceless first that is what happend and why it kicked off they did the same last year throwing a fan down the stairs and another filmed it on his phone it was knocked from his hand and kicked down the stairs and then stood on just to make sure the 5 who were arested will get band by the club and rightly so but i hope they bring the bouncers to court as well as that was gbh.

So a steward repeatedly punching someone in the face whilst another steawrd hold his arms behind his back is an acceptable way of dealing with troublesome fans is it?

I agree! If the Widnes fans hadn't of thrown a smoke bomb there would of been no need for the stewards to step in, but surely you can see his reaction was totally unjustified, totally OTT and bordering on GBH?!
