Brian Noble ? You could do a lot worse.
He's available, he could start the ball rolling with recruitment now by sounding out players, he did a very good job with the Crusaders last year as he basically had a month to assemble a squad of players that was fit for SL, not only did he put together a very competetive team he got them to the play offs.

Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”

Unfortunately, Brian Noble isn’t known to be one of Terry O’Connor’s old Wigan chums. That seems to be a bit of a major advantage for anyone wanting a job at Widnes in the coaching staff.

If we don't stop ing around with the likes of Betts, he'll end up back at Bradford, Leeds or Hull.

| Enough is enough. Betts and Cullen out. Millward in.We had one chance to get Millward in a couple of years and we blew it and went for Cullen, lets not make the same mistake again.

who ever takes the reigns, it wont change the fact our squad is largely Gash. Even if it was Chuck Norris he would still be stuck with the results of the previous administrations Gash recruitment.

Good point, but a half decent coach would'nt have signed some of the tat we have over the last few seasons,no need to name names we all know who they are.

| Post SL the only decent coach we've had was Kelly. He did wonders at Dewsbury, won us promotion and we held our own in SL until they sacked him after our poor run only for Endacott to get us relegated anyhow. Pretty sure he won coach of the year at one point too. Now I'm not saying we definitely would have stayed up under Kelly but the point I'm making is we sacked a reasonable coach under panicky circumstances only for us to get worse.
As a club we have nowt to play for this year other than pride but the coach and players have it all to play for if they want SL contracts. Seeing as a major clear out is expected at the end of the season I simply don't think it's worth bringing in a new coaching team just yet. The expense and the possible upheaval it would cause are not worth the risk just for the sake of showing some dignity in this division, just think we could be promoted from a relegation place if we nose dive any further!
So at the risk of making ourselves a complete laughing stock I say stick with the current set up and if we finish outside the play-offs and sack the lot of em, we'll still have time to bring in a new team for SL season 1. Bearing in mind we have 3 years without the threat of relegation to build up some momentum I think to sack the coaching staff now would be irresponsible.
As for Cullen and Tez O'Connor roles then Cullen's never really impressed me that much in any role. He was a better coach than McCormick (not saying a lot) but what exactly does he do now? As for Terry then I've heard good things about his work with the youth set up from a lad who's little bro is on the books so maybe this is what he should stick to rather than resident tapper-upper-er as he seems to be operating as currently. 33% Scout + 33% Youth Welfare + 33% TV pundit does not equal 100% Widnes.
Finally I'm not sure about some of the names being suggested. Noble seems a bit too fond of the media circus a la Cullen and Tez for my liking. As for Millward then anyone who can be sacked from a Rugby League club for sexism must be a complete ignoramus and not somebody who I want associated with us at all. He can stay on at Leigh as King of the Gypsies for all I care.
Do we really need to try and win the SL in the first 3 years? Stability is what we need. Personally I think if we were to go with a new team for SL then an experienced NRL coach (antipodean or otherwise! lol) with a 3 year contract and promising young assistant to take over the helm after 3 years. But for now let's see if this bunch can recover things first.

But that leaves us in the position where the people who have ed up recruitment for the last few years, will be recruiting for Super League. I would give Betts his marching orders a.s.a.p and try to get someone signed up to take over before, or at the end of the season. If he can only come at the end of the season, then get him to sign an agreement for then and consult him on which players he wants. Let PC take over until then. Like you say, at least PC ain't all that bad. Not great, but as needs must...

| Personally don't think recruitment was as terrible as people making out... Best balance in squad for years and players are proven elsewhere.
One major issue is signing players with SL potential rather than champ winners... But that's for last 2 years not this one IMO. Ste Mc had his critics but that guy can put a top Champ squad together!
Maybe the SL recruitment will work well as people at club more in the know of top flight RL then the lower realms?
