Firstly, apologies to Widnes for hijacking this thread.

Secondly, why believe a journalist over the lad himself? You know better than that.

He is also quoted in our local Rag denying he has signed anything and is due to sit down with the Chairman today or tomorrow.

Personally, I think he will go to SL and myself and, I am sure, every other Raiders fan wishes him the best and thanks him for his massive contribution to our club over the last few seasons.

As for Barrow signing Smith? Great player and probs my first choice from the Championship to replace Ellis. Can't see him leaving Widnes tho, hes good enuff for SL and Widnes are still the best bet for a franchise.

As for fitting him under our salary cap, I think you may find our chairman is a lot tighter with his money than speculation would have you believe. How do you think he got rich in the first place?

No need to apologise... as for salaries.. I'm sorry but I can't accept that people like Rooney would be prepared to travel that distance for less than they are offered elsewhere. If Smith goes it will be for more than he is on at Widnes.. otherwise he is losing money that he is currently getting plus paying massive costs of travelling on top. It doesn't make sense.

Hey gaz you not think there could be a possible swap deal in the pipeline? You need a hooker, we have more than Manningham Lane, we want a quality centre. Contracts mean Jack these days. Maybe there's more truth in it than you would like to admit.



As for Branigan at the stobart, maybe he was wanting to buy a Ford Orion. Him and Black are going to be a quality half back pairing for us next season.

I agree with everything you say. Barrow must be paying comparative wages plus compensation for travelling time incurred. However some people have posted figures, purely speculation and rumour, which no championship club could support and which would make meeting salary cap rules almost impossible.

Knowing some of the lads at Barrow and researching facts around the manner in which cetrtain players joined the club, I can rest easy that we are nowhere near the cap for this year and have no doubt we will be within it next year.

I just hope next year is as competitive and entertaining as this one was.

Zeb has played most of this season in his preferred role of loose forward. He is also under contract for next two seasons sorry.

That paper printed in Saturdays paper that the last train back to Barrow on Sunday was 18:15 and that any supporters using the train should seek alternative transport home....................Guess what ? I was on the 21:16 train home !!
