I agree - I know hes not everyone's 1st choice (including me), but now that he's been appointed, all we can do is give him the support and see how it goes.

7294.jpg This is history. This is history. Right here. Right now. This is history.
I thought it was Widnes?
All games are winnable, whats hard to understand about that.
Wakefield turn over a big club every season and i see no reason why Widnes can't do the same.
:7294.jpg |

| I was with you initially 1977 before the appointment, in fact if you knew me personally would be well aware of my stance with all things Wire. Widnesian through and through. If you came to my house you'd think you were in the Museum with all the Widnes stuff I have.
However, I think that if we want him to do well then we need to wipe the slate clean and judge him with performances on the pitch. If I am taking a narrow view all we need to do is reach win two semi-finals in a row since according to the "rules" (and I use that term liberally) the teams in the 2009 and 2010 finals are eligible for SL. I don't think 2011 final counts as the decison will have been made. (I stand corrected). Theoretically if we do that based on those "rules" then potentially there are only two other sides which can challenge us for an SL spot. Very much an elimination process on that basis.
Anyway, If I'm looking long term and doing a Paul Terzis (i.e. beyond ) he has attracted the Johns's of this world to SL (backed by money) and if he can do that when we get back in SL then I'm a happy bunny. I just hope that he has learnt from his mistakes as Warrington coach particulary on the discipline side. I'd be very worried if we brought Briers in, not a rumour just an opinion. He was always out on the in the Chapel House much to the annoyance of PC.
Like it or lump it we have him and the best we can do is give the man our support.

He's got to get us out of NL1 first!
I hope he goes well for us, christ knows we need a break now. I'm just not prepared to set myself up for another fall..

| He will want to prove that we wrong to get rid and will have a bit of a chip on his shoulder, I think he will be more focused and he has some good talent to work with at Widnes and players he knows, he has a club with a great tradition and good fanbase, if he get's it right you will grow to love him, I understand why some of you have your doubts though.

| I have read some crap in my time but never as much as this
Stuckin newport wrote on the TIW the folllowing
"Well it's taken me quite a while to be able to put my thoughts together to reply to this thread.
To say I am disappointed with this appointment is a vast understatement.
I have supported Widnes RLFC with a passion for 40+years, even being lucky enough to put on a shirt in the days of the Colts, but I am just not prepared to pretend that I agree with Cullen's appointment and I will not be attending any games while he is in charge. He is a Warrington lad who both played for his hometown and coached them with a passion and I have absolutely no gripe with that, because that is what RL is all about. I do however sit here in absolute disbelief that people who have come on this board over previous months and years mars-barring him off for this passion for Wire can now merrily type about their feelings of joy that he has decided to join our little team.
Paul Cullen is wire through and through and he can talk about getting us into SL where we belong for as long as he likes, but in the same way as you or I can never support our nearest rivals it would be impossible for PC to genuinely switch allegiance to Widnes.
I wish both Paul and Widnes RLFC all the luck in the world and I will be absolutely over the moon if the SL goal is achieved, but I will travel up to the game on Thursday with a feeling of sadness, knowing that this will be my last game for a long time".
Everyone has an opinion but saying your not bothering going again just because Paul's in charge is a joke
Good riddance, 40 years my ar*e, we dont half have some idiotic fans.

I might have said some reactionary sh*te in my time, Widnes are important to both me and the town I live in so I admit that, but that's a disgrace.
Does he honestly think Cullen is not going to try his best at this club because of some mostly friendly rivalry? I think both of us have bigger enemies at the moment, and I am sure Paul is the ultimate professional. Whether he is right for the job or not remains to be seen, but we should all get behind him and give him the support any widnes coach deserves.

Can somebody ban this idiot please: |
|
| DOES any of these in retards not realise the job cullen did with warrington when taking warrington from 11th to top 6 every season SO WHAT if he never won anythin has Justin Morgan won anythin NO.. and i would say is he has done a fantastic job with them, same senario with cullen albeit big club and ended up having cash threw at him. When you have teams like LEEDS and SAINTS in a division you tend not to win much. Oh il bet also when cullen tactically masterminded that win over leeds in the play offs ( briers drop ) goal, il bet everyone thought " i remember when WIDNES used to do that", so in theory stop all being sad idiots and trying to find fault because your life is sad and has nothing in it.
IF your reading paul ( not that i think you would ) These minority are complete s h i t heads who would rather sit there and watch us fail rather than embrace change! GOOD LUCK
