It's not good news for any club that's not getting a new stadium that has been promised one but at the same time I couldn't give a toss what Salford or any other club are doing apart from Widnes.

You relied on one to get in, and never produced it. Stands to reason we would be relying on the same teams not to get one to get in too. We are going to have to outdo existing SL teams, and we certainly outdo you lot especially without the stadium.

Not necessarily. The contractor just builds. The designer is the one who designs the foundations and will know more about the conditions of the site. In fact, I'm surprised as the source has spoken to one of the subbies who are doing the groundworks as I would have thought the main contractor wasn't even appointed yet!

Plus obviously Widnes will rely on other teams not getting stadiums etc... FACT! If all SL sides had teams full of Brit's all finishing in playoffs next few years in brand spanking new stadiums 10k attenadances and 4mil turnovers. we'd be fooked! sO WHAT DO YOU EXPECT EXACTLY?

Am I the only one who doesn't seem to be d? Ok yes it is a bit annoying, as a brick hasn't yet been layed, and plans seemed to have stalled as many did expect. Go along the road by Barton on a weekly basis, so seen it with my own eyes. Yes it is the contractor that builds only, two seperate parties completely.

Whilst I do feel the final piece of Salford's jigsaw isn't looking to be completed anytime soon, why don't we just leave the fretting to be done by Peel, Salford Council and Mr Wilkinson. I don't believe it is much concern to us tbh, we should just concentrate on builiding an unstoppable bid for 2012 now, forget about others, let's get there on merit and in the short term worry about getting to GF at W**e.

At least Salford aren't having to be bailed out financially, and having to re-locate mid season in their first year of SL rugby.

There's lots more of this to come along with the usual platitudes from John Wilkinson. You can't question his devotion to Salford but that's not the point.
The new ground at Barton might well remain a non-issue for the RFL (yes, they've issued "warnings" but that's only a measly form of protocol) next time around.
Why? Because the long-term "big city" agenda for SL will sway Salford's case regardless. Especially if Maurice Watkins is involved in the franchise process again. Even if he is officially there to advise on the legal aspects he is a very powerful man in sport.
And has had more than just a passing involvement with the Salford club in the past.
