Is anyone really surprised by how this has ended up?

It's great to have local support from our mp but i think the club should distance themselves and carry on building towards 2012.

Or 2011.

Just lays a VERY dangerous precident that 'not breaking any rules by moving'...

For example what if Wakey where faltering and the RFL just decided to move playing squad, coaches etc to Glasgow? Doesn't break any rules does it? And it's how they work in the NFL FRANCHISE system!

I don't think this could happen without the permission of wakefield and the players themselves. They would pretty much legally have to announce this before they even signed for the club so this isn't quite the same.

Not many rules in their rulebook are there,as Pepe said on TIW.I mean,clubs fieldng ineligible players and they have no punishment to cover such an offence FF sake.Gross incompetence if nobody at the RL can be d looking at their own rulebook now and again to see if everything is up to date and in order.

Yes there are.. if you go into administration you will be docked 9 points and precluded from serious contention within any licence application process..

To be honest an MP bleating away demanding that Widnes be put in Superleague in place of another team will not go down well with the RFL. I think Widnes should just distance themselves from these comments and prepare for 2012 themselves.

Agree completly - Derek's heart is in the right place, but as a politician he should know better. SoC realised that he had to work with the RFL and not against them and that obviously stuck in his craw a bit, but he's done the right thing by publicly courting them. That is the way to get a licence, not having a public pop at them.

If they did ask us to replace them next year they would have to sell it as a merger (Are we the closest club to them?) so we got access to their playing staff. And we'd still get slaughtered most weeks. And we'd then screw up the next licencing round. The whole thing is a bit of a mess!

Yes. Derek seems like a good guy for a politician and he is trying to put widnes first but our rivals are going our work for us. Meddling will make things only more difficult at this point.
