Well its been a long time coming, as many of us thought we had got him for this season, until it became apparent that we couldn't agree a fee with Hull. So the speculation has been there since this time last year that he would sign for us from 2014!

Yes there is a worry that he has missed a lot of games through injury in 2012 and 2013, but as we know ourselves from the past two seasons any player can get injured at any time!

A fit Danny Tickle will be a great asset to us for 2014. A couple more signings of his calibre and things will be looking really good.

Be nice if we could announce the futures of our remaining out of contract players, particularly Phelps and Winterstein, so we can start to see what sort of squad we are going to have.

As stated in another thread I think everyone is assuming that Briscoe and Davies wont be being offered new deals with us and we know Cross is hanging up his boots add to that the departure of Hock and that should allow scope for some more arrivals of decent quality!

The only other bit of signing speculation I had read related to a winger (Scott Armstrong) who has just been released by Northampton, got to say he seems an unlikely signing.

Sorry hadn't spotted that Ben Davies has been released!

So he definitely wont be with us next season!

Yeah Tickle is a good signing if we can get or keep him fit. But we are desperate for a go forward prop, and after witnessing Pickersgil's woeful performance last week the sooner rather than later.

I'm sure a prop will be on the agenda given Ben cross is retiring, I would be looking at Gareth Carvell.

Sorry VM, Carvell is one other name that has been mentioned as a potential signing for 2014. Warrington's strategy of signing up all their senior players for this season backfired in terms of accumulated injuries, so I wonder if they will be looking for an injection of "new blood" which might mean Carvell could be available! He would certainly add a load of experience following Cross' departure.

Technically we will be down two props with Davies having been released, but since he hasn't had any first team game time (I don't think?) his absence wont be so acutely felt. A shame really as I think he had a fair bit of potential, but I guess he didn't apply himself as well as DB wanted him to.

Bit of a plodder with no offload, but decent close to the line and can win games with his kicking alone.

You need a plodder who keeps possession too in a team.Better than losing it on the first tackle.

Genuinely we are one of (if not) the worst side at converting territory on the line into points and Jack Owens aside a bit sloppy with the boot so that sounds fabulous to me icon_mrgreen.gif

wasnt he plying his trade in the championship at the time after you told him to get lost for not signing a new contract, so he wasnt actually playing for you at the time.

bit like the elliot whitehead saga at bradford now

but brough and ferres actually joined us there and then not the following season, get it?

kopzcak saga was a long one and giants found not guilty. He just didnt want to sign the TUPE contract with bradford and cant blame him.

ferguson (wakey lad) was sold by the administrators....then played for us straight away.
murphy (wakey lad) signed off season

unprofessional from widnes yet again.

So you did approach all those players before they where officially available? What's more disruptive losing a player mid-season or keeping them until the end? Official or not the player still knows in his head for crying out loud.

Not unprofessional at all. Your club doesn't want us to announce. We don't announce.
