Actually Widnes fared better than the same fixture last year.
There was a 60 point Margin last year.
As I said on the Hull KR thread, when the coach puts up the white flag before the game then the players are always going to follow suit.
Those teams with some fight went out and made a game of it. Salford/Wakey/ Even London kept Wire to what would have been an expected scoreline.

I think the point is made by bewareshadows above. No doubt Widnes well deserved Friday's win but clearly more than 50% of the team's energy and resources went into it. |

As a Giants fan i enjoyed yesterday but i dont read anything into it as you had so many players out injured / Rested and played a big tiring game against Wire. However if i was widnes fan who went to that game i would be fuming about the teams performance yesterday.
If the club were going to go to a game to surrender they should have told the Widnes fans not to go and waste their money

His point in no way correlates with anything from my conversation about wire fans gloating over a loss to a completely different club. |

The fans were told before the game that our squad wouldn't be the same, if they were the kind of fan to go to such a game they probably knew. To be honest I wasn't too happy with it either. Huddersfield fans paid to see a game, our fans paid to see a game, we've written it off. Okay, it was always going to be tough to go there, but it wasn't fair on your club, it wasn't sporting, and I hope we don't make a habit of sending a second string to teams we don't think we can conquer. |
