What I can't stand sometimes is all the excuses about beer and police prescience sorry normal people don't act like that no matter what scenario! Really hope this guy pulls through and all offenders are prosecuted and we can all move on swiftly! No fan should ever have to endure what this poor chap is going through over a game!

The problem is some of us live in the REAL world, it is crazy to have all the buses from both teams parked next to each other in the same car park then let both fans out at the same time 8pm after a near 8 hour drinking binge, especially after a game like that, its a disaster in the waiting. Surely the sensible thing to do is different car parks or failing that keep the Halifax fans in the stand for 20 mins and let the fev buses leave, after all the Halifax fans would be celebrating with there players anyway. its all very well saying family game and we shouldnt need to, well im afraid family game my assss, iv been watching it 35 years and seen some right old tare ups and many involving widnes. Bit more organisation and sence and that lad would not be in hospital

The Fax fans were celebrating... Why didn't Rivers get off then if that's your point? The excuses for these things are ridiculous. As I have said elsewhere a few drunken pouts or the odd scrap between fans is one thing, but assault, fans waiting by coaches for opposition fans? That's 80s hooliganism mate what most thought was long gone and shouldn't need a police prescence for!

the only organisation that happend sunday night was the thugs who came with fev waiting behind for the halifax fans to walk down to the coaches and i said soon as we pulled up that was stupid having both sets of fans together and that trouble will happen after the game

No the real world is RL is not and never has been a family game, that is why certain segregation measures are needed

A few months ago we also lost a final which we were comfortably winning. We had all spent a whole day drinking round Blackpool before the game and continued to do so after the game. We too were all on the same carpark next to the ground but we didn't wait to ambush Batley fans. Rugby League may not be the shiny utopia that the RFL say it is and sometime scuffles happen but this was downright thuggery. I have never heard of this happening at a game before so why would special precautons be made when not normally required. I hope whoever did this is caught as this is entirely their fault not anyone elses.

Last years GF there was no trouble AT ALL, in fact there were a few dozen fax fans enjoying the game with Sparrow fans in the South stand, I think there would have been no possibility of that this yr.

Also the banter outside the Lord Admiral pub (the one nr the red lion) was non existant, it was brought down a level by the Fev fans, swearing, intimidating and just generally hostile. I took myslef and the lad into the ground earlier than planned to avoid further as trouble was brewing. Again non of this last yr.

Common denominator = Fev fans

my mate told me earlier he found a video on youtube saying champions lol so he watched it and it was a group who took dave to the floor and 3 people wearing flat caps stomped on his head now i am only telling you what i was told and he said he sent to the cops and the video is no longer on youtube

There does seem to be an issue in that area. I have seen trouble on more occasions at Cas & Fev (nothing more than scuffles I mght add) than anywhere else & for all of our speccies who went to the Normanton cup game - I'm sure you all remember that one.

I hope they throw away the bloody key, scumbags and that Dave is their in his champions shirt to see it! Unbelievable and the fact as mentioned in regards Blackpool post, the fact some people think this is a policing issue and 'was always going to happen' sickens me more tbh!

last year when went to fev and beat them on sky i was threatened by a group of "fev" fans who followed me out of the ground thankfully was a large group of us so nothing happened and if i remember rightly they also started on someone who ran a supporters coach to the game until someone stepped in and told them to clear off and now this its getting stupid
