These 2 signings! When are the coming in? Will they be fre from injury? Will they be match fit or the first 5-6?weeks of the season? Is it Billy Slater or Darren Lockyer? As stated, ambitions & capabilities. It's your first season back and your playing with an almost new team.

Well said.
The season proper hasn't started yet although far too many people / the bookies are writing us off. It's going to be tough our first season back in SL. The team and fans should be fired up to prove some of the doubters wrong.

| Negative: Wait till you come up against a full strength Wire team and not the reserves. By 'eck you'll struggle this season.

| Take no notice Widnes. Happens in every sport. When Wigan Athletic got promoted to Premier League a few years ago, "they" said that they'd go straight back down. Now we're struggling to get rid of them. When Swansea came up this season, they said they'd struggle, and there they are, 15th of 20 and some great results against "established teams".
Super League isn't about form, it's about the day, how you perform on the day, and how the other team performs on the day.
I dont think for one second any Widnes fan is expecting trophies this season (though it's not impossible), and I think a top 10 prediction is not out of reach.
Take no notice of Warrington, they're jealous of Widnes, cos you've got History.

| We looked like a side that had never played together before, because we haven't. I'm not reading too much into yesterday to be honest. Although Scott Moore needs to sort himself out, and Watts looked great before he went off.

| Widnes fans seem very quick to get defensive about Warrington fans 'taking the mick'. Apart from a few numpties, the ones I know appreciate that Widnes are starting from a difficult position but will get better as the season and the licensing period goes on.
From a personal perspective I wouldn't like Widnes to be whipping boys as I enjoy a competitive derby. I think Widnes should certainly be aiming for top 10, but realistically anything that isn't bottom must be seen as a relative success in 2012.

Yes mate and lost to Leeds in the playoffs after saying they take a clean sweep. Have a few good years and they get so arrogant some of their fans.To be honest i be happy to come 11th or 12th this year, as dont expect much. But some of our fans will whinge alot if ended up at the bottom and be asking for Betts to be sacked.Anyway thankyou for the kind words, unlike some Wire fans on here.My idiot Wire friend sent me 20 childish txts to my phone and shows their mentality.

You say Widnes Fans but want us to make a distinction between Wire fans and a "few numpties". It doesn't work out that way I am afraid. You can't generalise on us and then ask others not to do so to your fans.
Anyway, let's not get carried away here.
It was a friendly. And I say this every time regardless of the result. They mean nothing. Other than getting the fans to view the players, a bit of rugby in an otherwise barren period. Our first match together, away to the league leaders last year, and we're not disgraced. Out of sorts, but we looked like a team who have not had a lot of time together, unlike every other team in the league we will have this problem early on. We're playing catch up, everyone has been given a head start on us and many do not deserve it.
People take what they want from friendlies. If you lose, so what, if you win, they're mega important. I try to stay consistent on this myself. It's no great worry at this stage of our life that we're not beating the wire away from home especially when we've got players like Watts going off.
The real meal is to come. This wasn't even an hor d'oeuvres.

I saw no Mickey taking at all...Then Wigan troll sticks his oar in and mentions history in an attempt to turn the thread into a slanging match and a d1ck measuring contest....Not really a shock is it..
I love the way you always have to mention history its very sad...

That's a good way of expressing it, actually. My sympathies.
