You only just won that game and you know it. If the ref hadn't penalised Ostick for reefing - which he clearly didn't - we probably would have won. As it was, you scored from that penalty.

There's a lot hovering around the 29 mark too, who aren't exactly long term prospects. With no academy in place, you will be totally reliant on other clubs to get replacements.

so will you if the majority of the academy players arent going to be good enough or ready enough for next year.

Question for you - if you dont manage to tick any boxes on the playing field for a SL licence - next years squad - do you think it will be mainly full of lads for your academy team? Or will you be looking at getting in proven players?

My mentioning your all or nothing mentality this year stems from the fact that you decided to get rid of your academy sides in order to pump the money into the first team. A fact no-one quibbles with on your board.
If you need to run a team as strong next year you will need the same finances and probably won't be able to run your academy again meaning that you won't tick that box which in the opinion of many means that you won't be flavour of the month with the RFL. Youth structures are important to them in terms of you developing players for Bradford, Leeds, Huddersfield and and for us to develop players for Saints, Warrington and Wigan.

As for our young players the likes of Saints and Warrington were and are sniffing around them presently in terms of Ostick and Flynn, so they consider them good enough. Yates is quality and will be fanastic with a few more seasons under his belt but managing their confidence is paramount. We have tried throwing players into the first team and getting them to play every match and it doesn't do them any good.
Wilkinson is a man renowned for developing youth players so we'll trust his opinion over yours any day of the week.

Larder and Watene are two of your best forwards. Only Tamgart is better imo. Obviously we cannot count your loan player.


I never said they weren't good enough. I said we've played too many of them for too long. That is the wrong way to go about it. We've played about 4 of them on average this season and we are still in 3rd place. I'd say it looks like we are doing OK with our kids. Not the best performances, but that has a lot to do with off the field issues at the moment.



I don't have a crystal ball. Some will make it, others won't. Some will probably be replaced by others coming through our academies. They do need to be introduced into an experienced team that is playing well, and done so in particular games. This hasn't happened yet. That's why we are bringing in some experienced players, which they'll be able to learn from, rather than inexperienced wasters like Sam Thompson.

You didnt mention forwards only - as good as frank and larder are - i think Shad at loose forward, penky and beswick are all stand outs in the pack. Best player by a mile is Gleeson this season though.
