Chan very average but I'd happily take O'Hara, a very good, solid SL prop.

I know we've got to start somewhere but I wouldn't be too excited about most of those. Unless a player has real quality, I don't see why we'd go for many players the wrong side of 30 - Senior and Long being the obvious ones to avoid. A player of Webb's quality I can fully understand, but Clarke, O'Hara, Chan and Briscoe? None of these players are either a) stand out performers or b) going to get any better at this stage of their careers. I suppose to put it into perspective, would any decent SL side be looking to sign these type of players? I know we won't be a team of superstars, but on the other side, a team of that ilk wouldn't be good enough either. We need a bit of balance between class and plodders, but we only seem to be linked with the plodders at the moment. Would be a bit more exciting if we had been linked with 1 or 2 top class players. |
