There aren't that many multi-millionaires around the Widnes area so if we can't become self-sufficient and successful we are sunk. Quite honestly if we have to have someone simply shoveling cash in at every verse end then the SL will be a smaller one, as many want anyway.
I'm old enough and lucky enough, to have seen all the shades of Widnes RLFC, from rubbish in the fifty's to absolutely brilliant and I'd settle for that if we can't cut it cash-wise. I'm also greedy enough to want to see the brilliant side again, and to that end I'll support as much as I can with VSH, Dream Tickets, sponsoring the youngsters etc. Obviously there is a limit for each and every one of us.
What some don't realise is that the club have given my family and many others, past and present, so many good days that I reckon I can cut them a bit of slack when they go wrong!'"
I couldn't have put it better SG. I too have been there through thick and thin since the 50's and earlier so we take what we are getting and hope the club know what they are doing. We just hmope that they are doing it right. Looking forwrd to the new season in the hope that the players have "gelled" and can carry on the good wdork they started in the second half on the 2012 season.

The thing that really turns me off is the logic that we (the fans) deserve better and that somebody else (SOC being in line atm) should fully fund it!

Agree, it's a strange one.
Clubs struggling left, right and centre yet some Widnes fans keep acting like we're being undersold. Context is never a factor in the personality of many sports fans though tbh. |
