Cheers Rich, wasn't particularly easy to guess from within the East Stand, though I do know that there were 7 of us stood in front of 4 seats at the back!

Quote: richardviking "Coyle was shocking today. I was impressed with most of the forwards though. Best side won on the day, our halves were pretty poor I thought.

Around 600 max from Leigh, including those in the South! Those that came were a credit though, so well done to them.'"

Not a lot in it Richard. Your guys showed much more spirit and appetite for the game. I was hoping that we might have taken more than that, but can't really tell when you're in the thick of it.

Good luck against fev!

Personally I thought there was at least 900 Leythers today. The two sections they were sat in hold 600 apiece. There were a few spaces in them but there weren't any big gaps.

Very disappointed today as I thought we'd done enough to win and were the slightly better side but well done to Leigh, they simply got more points!

Ref was dodgy full stop and although it's a running joke, the situation with forward passes in the game as a whole needs sorting. When he finally pulled Leigh for one, it actually wasn't!!!!

900 will do for me though I don't think it was close to that! My bigger concern was with the high tackles today (for both sides) where Roby seemed to miss some glaring ones yet gave penalties for some very borderline ones.

Well in the after match speaches steve o connor said early indications were that there was at least 800+ leythers and thanked us for the support, so would say final counts will be between 8-900.

I agree with this, we just didn't get enough from Coyle or the halves. Also thought we drove it up the middle a bit too much as we just didn't get any change out of the Leyther forwards all day (bar Kavanagh's run early on). Thought there would be a few more Leythers than there were given their form this season, but I suppose any team that brings more than a couple of hundred in this division deserves praise.

It was a bit of a stalemate down the middle that I think only turned once we reintroduced Hill, Taylor and Thornley towards the end. I certainly thought we went down the middle far too much in the first half instead of swinging the ball out a bit - the one chance Nanyn had within 10m of the line ended in a try, yet we kept trying the Ellis-Riddy-Donlan move that Widnes had done well to snuff out.

Went up Leigh for a drink after the game and was disappointed to see several Leigh fans who would ordinarily be at the Stobart today yet for some reason chose a day in the pub watching some football friendly from Wembley instead. Their loss I suppose.

Good effort from the lads today and I think we were a decent scrum half away from winning that. Thought the ref was very poor, although saying that, his very skinny 10, ignoring of offside and his allowing both sides to lie on more than I've seen any other ref do this year probably helped us as it made it a slower game and helped stop Leigh getting the roll on that has destroyed us twice at their place. He also seemed reluctant to call held when players were obviously held up which means other players have to join the tackle which is, quite frankly, dangerous.

It was our lack of invention in attack that ultimately cost us that game. I'Anson is not a scrum half, his kicking game isn't good enough and we rely far too much on forwards up the middle. Why do we actually have wingers?? Penny resorts to coming in to drive the ball in, probably because he's bored. Kevin Penny should not be driving the ball in at forwards! We have times where it's crying out for a wide ball, but players seem to have forgotten how to pass. Quite simply, Leigh look better coached and Millward can change the game a bit at half time where Betts cannot. Effort and determination is there for all to see. We need a better game plan which has more variety in it.

Glad someone else noticed that, though I would say we didn't slow things down anywhere near enough in the first half, which was why we gave away a string of penalties in a couple of sets. Our discipline was absolutely criminal at times which isn't usually one of our traits.

In all fairness, if Penny manages to make a break in centre field (which he did threaten to do on a couple of occasions) then there's no bugger who's going to catch him. If he's going to make a quick play the ball then you need a similar scoot from dummy half though and I'm not sure you've anyone capable of doing that at the speed that Penny manages it.

Quote: J20 "Never drops a ball for us as unlike wire we don't have a load of chavvy s getting on his back frpm minute one. Maybe so but they are half this league no? And he basically won us the game against Batley! Leigh are a cracking side but still got fecking Maden on the wing FFS.'"

Madden didn't do too bad did he , setting up the Ellis try , Also did you notice him in the 1st half , from a break in play he moved into AHB twice then took the 3 rd ball , giving a rest to forwards and Duffy at 9 , then 2 PTB s later Leigh lose the ball , you lot send it wide and Steve came back in with a try stopper of a tackle

More to wing play than just being fast if given space , his yard making early in the set is fantastic for us

Everybody works in this team of ours , that's why we are so hard to beat

Then you see the likes of D Allen coming back on the pitch when Leigh were building up a head of steam with 15/20 left , I counted 4 sets that he didn't take a single ball up for you lot as our defence was very aggressive chasing the game , no heart , no chance

The best player you had was Varks , the only forward who troubled us

Varkulis absolutely mullered Duffs a couple of times, but I think Crosby (BOOOOO) went well in his first stint as well and Pickersgill takes up a lot of ball.

Coming to something when I agree with Matt and Starbug.

Just a couple of kids who talk sense once in a while.
