| You could have the Aussie back line and Wayne Bennett at the helm but you wouldn't win anything with discipline lick that today. That's what really let you down.

| The only reason Widnes supporters are on Paul Cullens back is because of his past associations.

And the fact he has a record of failure at Dire somehow qualifies him for another SL job ....

| As a Saints fan who attended the cup game, i thought that it was disgraceful how the Widnes fans had literally deserted their team and failed to show up last week.
MY view at the time was that Widnes fans must have had a wildly optimistic view of how you would perform in your first season in SL.
Especially as last week i thought you gave it a fair go against Saints.
However after watching you this week i can understand the fans frustrations, Widnes were absolute rubbish. Your players looked dis interested and didnt offer anything at all.
Saints didnt get out of second gear last night and yet were marching down the pitch at will as your players dropped off tackles. Going forward your players were powder puff with the exception of Ah Van who in the two games against Saints has worked his socks off.
One particular piece summed it up for me. Ah Van took the ball in first tackle. Made yards, got tackled played the ball, the hooker passed the ball out to the forward who trundled it up. While this happened Ah van started to make his way back to the backline, but was then shoved by a fellow player back to midfield and told to take the third drive in, which he promptly did. This all begs the question of what the hell were your forwards actually doing at this time as they should have been the ones making the third tackle hit up. Not a winger.
Looking at your team, you should be competing on a higher level than you are. Yes you should expect to get turned over by Saints or Wire etc but the score should be something like 30-10 or 40-16 not 62-0.
The way things are going i suspect you may end up one week suffering an 80 or 90 point thrashing. I certainly expect Wigan to show no mercy when you visit the DW later in the year. They will be after revenge from their earlier shock defeat.
Going forward, because of your sides abject showing this year, you will struggle to sign anyone competent at the end of this year, as no one will want to join what will be seen as whipping boys.
The coaching setup at Widnes also needs reviewing. Cullen was a complete flop at Wire and held them back for years. It now appears he is working his magic at Widnes and acting as a double agent in Wires favour. Betts also looks out of his depth and incapable of putting the fight in your players hearts and minds.
I really think you need to look down under and try to get a promising aussie coach onboard for next season.

I think you and virtually every other opposition fan visiting this board have had the same view that the fans have unrealistic expectations and we need the full three years, blah blah blah.
That is until you actually look at what we are putting up with in record defeats, regular nillings, an inability to play away, a run of fifteen games stretching to last year having conceded more than thirty points.
None of which you would put up with at your own clubs yet we apparently should because we are the new boys and it is expected. We know we will lose games but all we want is some heart and effort and not what we are currently being served.
I keep on saying it but we offer absolutely nothing to Superleague at present. We are a complete shambles at the moment on and off the pitch yet the club dont comment other than to back Betts. It does feel a little like the club hold the fans in contempt for daring to share the view that this was not what 'Daring to Dream' of Superleague was all about.

I think though that the point other fans are trying to make is that you are not the only set of fans to have gone through this. All the teams promoted to Superleague either through the old system or under the licence system have gone through the same, and some teams still get regular tonkings (London, Salford, Cas, Wakey ...). The licence system is about building for the future. It's a long term view. Fans are notoriously bad at holding on to the long term view but if the Dragons and Hudds are anything to go by - both teams who were often pitiful when they first entered Superleague - it could be worth the investment of energy.
Just for the record I had a lot of respect for the Widnes fans last night. I was at the match. Most of them stayed in the ground in spite of their team's no-show. Good effort by them.

| The least that Widnes fans should expect is to see their team compete. They might lose the games, but they should at least compete in those games. Otherwise, why bother?

| Quite glad we don't have a game next weekend, all enthusiasm and excitement I had for our return to Superleague has pretty much gone.

We had 14 wins in our first Superleague season and 12 in our second before it all went downhill.
Difference being we were promoted so had a winning mentality plus a coach who made Dewsbury one of the best championship sides and took them to 2 finals.
